Childhood – Journey Blog Hoppers Hop

It’s time for another blog hop! This months theme is Childhood.

If  you arrived here from Heather’s blog, then you are right on track. If not just keep hopping along until you come full circle.

I had a bit of fun with my card this time. I love playing & experimenting. I saw a card on Pinterest from another company & decided to translate the sketch design into my card for this hop. I also had recently taken a class featuring the art of Laurel Burch & incorporated that too. Here is what I came up with in design:

I know several little girls that would love this card!

I started by making the colored circle. I took a Color Splash sheet & heavily spritzed it with water on both sides then started dropping Sweet Berry, Lavender Fusion & Pineapple Smoothie Splashes into the water on the Splash sheet.  When the color started to blob, I spritzed the sheet more. I set the sheet aside to dry.

I don’t work in gold a lot as I much prefer silver, but there is something about the thin gold lines in Laurel Burch art that is very appealing with the rich color. Much like the thin gold accents found in Washi or Yuzen paper, another favorite of mine. I stamped the angel from the Guardian Angel set in clear pigment ink & embossed in Gold embossing powder. I used my Color Splash Pencils & a Journey Blending Brush filled with water to color my angel. I left the wings uncolored, added glue & sprinkled with Sparkle Cuts. I cut my little angel out with the matching die.

Next I worked on the Whip Cream card base. I stamped the sentiment from Be Happy in Lavender Fusion. I took the large stars from Create Confetti, stamped them in clear ink & embossed with White Embossing powder.  They are subtle but add great tone on tone interest to the card with a bit of shine. After the Splash sheet was dry, I cut a circle out with Journey Circles & popped it & the angel on the circle with Journey Foam Squares.

Next up on the hop is Betsye’s blog.

It’s a short but fun hop this month! Please leave some love in the comments of each artist, it’s always appreciated.

Dude Journey Blog Hop

Welcome to the Journey Blog Hoppers Hop!

If you arrived here from Becky’s  blog then you are right on track. No worries if you didn’t just keep hopping until you come full circle.

The theme for this month’s hop is Dude. It seems really easy to design feminine & general cards but a lot of us just draw a blank when it comes to designing a card for the guys. I find it especially challenging since I live with techno geeks not sports fanatics. I often choose nature or vehicles when designing masculine cards & this month is no exception.  I started my design process by flipping through my stamp sets & seeing what grabbed my attention. Having just modified a store-bought card with a car on it for a friend, I gravitated towards my FSJ Let’s Ride motorcycle stamp. Here is the result:

When the weather is warm, we see a lot of motorcycles here in Oklahoma. I made this card to reflect leaving the OKC metro area behind & hitting the open road. This card can easily be used for many different occasions.

The card base is Pomegranate Splash with Brushed Silver & Pool Play layers. I used the Journey Long Rectangles to create the horizon line & added a strip of Denim Days embossed with the new Love Stripes Embossing folder to the bottom. I needed a “city” so I used the Build-A Skyscraper stamp set to make my buildings. I used Pool Play ink for the buildings so they were more in the background. Tone on tone offers a softer effect. The sentiment is from the Hit The Road stamp set. I then stamped the Let’s Ride motorcycle on Whip Cream in Pomegranate Splash ink & fussy cut around the image. I then pulled out my Silver Silk & highlighted the lights & some of the chrome areas on the cycle. A touch of River Stone PanPastels beneath the bike softened the stark white so it blended with the card more. The motorcycle is popped with Journey Foam Squares.

All You Need is Love February Blog Hop with The Savvy 7

Welcome back to my blog! Today I am hopping with The Savvy 7 as a guest blogger.

Our theme for February is All You Need is Love and I chose a classic white on white card featuring some great Fun Stampers Journey products.

I like to create Valentine cards that can also be used for Weddings & Anniversaries. I used Whip Cream cardstock for this particular card but will often raise the elegance level by using our white Pearled Basics paper.  This card features the I Heart Embossing Folder from the new Bloom This Way mini catalog. I just love the little hearts. I took our White Liner adhesive sheet & attached it to the Whip Cream cardstock to cut out the Decorative Hearts Die. I then peeled away the remaining adhesive backing & added Sparkle Cuts to the delicate die cut. I cut a separate solid heart from the die to back it with. The sentiment comes from Banner Sentiments. I masked off the word forever & stamped the Love in Clear Pigment ink, embossed with Silver embossing powder & diecut with an Ovals die. The background, heart & sentiment are all popped with Foam Squares to add dimension & interest. A couple of Rhinestones with a Sparkle Heart complete the card. It is much more dynamic & sparkly in person.

Thank-you for visiting my blog today. Be sure to check out all The Savvy 7 projects.

Fun Stampers Journey Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome back to my blog and this months Journey Holiday Blog Hop! If you arrived here from Crissy’s blog  then you are right on track. If not just keep hopping right along & you’ll come full circle.

This month’s theme is holiday and I chose to do something a little different.

I decided to use the Bloom Cluster die, some Cranberry Bliss & some Pearled Basics paper in white to create my focal image on my card. I started with a Limeade Splash card base. I embossed Silent Night from the Oh Holy stamp set in Gold Embossing powder. I then added a splashed background with my Gold & Silver Silks. I attached my Bloom Cluster die cuts & a few rhinestones for a simple elegant card.

As you read this, I am traveling home from a Christmas trip to Nashville Tennessee. I took very limited supplies with me on my trip. This helps me think outside the box. It also shows that with just a few items & one holiday stamp set that you can create a variety of cards on a budget. Creating can be as budget friendly as you need it to be, while still allowing you to add in a new purchase here & there to your stash. For the New Year, take a fresh look at your supplies & see how many possibilities are there. When you pick up a new purchase think of how many different ways you might  be able to create with it. A good suggestion is if you can make 3 different projects with it, it’s a good purchase.

Stayed tuned for the new Bloom This Way mini catalog launching Jan. 1st. You might just find a new supply or 2 that might have endless possibilities for creating.

Hop on over & check out what  Kim Lamos has created.

Welcome back to my blog & the Fun Stampers Journey Be Amazing Blog Hop. If you arrived here from Betsye Rose’s blog you are right on track. If not, no worries, just keep hopping until you come full circle.

This month we are featuring the Be Amazing Collection. This collection is fun, vibrant & has possibilities for endless creating.

I made an encouragement card. Everyone needs a day brightener now & then. The Amazing neon colors deliver sunshine & smiles & would definitely chase away the winter blues.

amazing-blog-hop

This card features a Black Licorice card base with a Whip Cream layer stamped with the Amazing Hearts background stamp & Turbo Teal Fusion ink. I accented the hearts with Outrageous Pink & Electric Lime Silks using a stylus tip. The center of the card is trading card size & has an Orange Rave mat, layered with a Cosmic Grape background embossed with the Yummy Dots embossing folder & popped with Journey Foam Squares onto the Amazing Hearts background. The sentiment is from the Rock Notes stamp set & was stamped with Turbo Teal Fusion ink first, then stamped with Clear Pigment ink & embossed with Clear Embossing Powder with a touch of Sparkle Dust mixed in. I die cut the sentiment with Journey Tag Elements dies & layered on a black mat and popped onto the Cosmic Grape background. I used a heart & star from the Amazing Accents painted with Outrageous Pink & Electric Lime silks. A few Outrageous Pink, Electric Lime & Orange Rave sequins finish off the card with style.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Hop on over to Kim’s blog next and enjoy her amazing creation.

Faith Journey Blog Hop

Blog Hop Banner

Welcome back to my blog & the Amazing Journey Blog Hoppers Faith Journey Hop! If you arrived here from Carol’s blog then you are right on track. If not, no worries, keep hopping & you’ll come full circle.

How we express our faith is different & unique to everyone. I usually don’t post a lot of “religious” stuff. I try to live by, though imperfectly, the 2 commands Jesus gave us. To love God with all our heart, soul & mind and to love our neighbors. Being the hands & feet of Jesus by loving & serving others is my small part in this world & it’s taken me a long time & a lot of grace to discover this.

One of the ways I absolutely have always loved to share is by encouraging others. Everyone can use a smile, kindness, thoughtful deed or some other small act to brighten their lives.

During October, Fun Stampers Journey is hosting a Be Brave Card Drive for breast cancer patients & their caregivers. Anyone battling any type of cancer is in for a rough road & faith can play an important part in the patients or their families journey. So I chose to make a pink ribbon card & use the Through the Storm stamp set.

faith-journey

Pink cards don’t have to be all pink. I used Huckleberry Fusion for the card base. The designer paper is a lovely ombre from the Party Pop Prints paper pack. I embossed the print with the Above the Clouds embossing folder & then highlighted the edges of the clouds with Bubble Gum Panpastels. I used the Heartfelt dies & piercing elements for the heart, which I also edged in Bubble Gum Panpastel. The sentiment is stamped in Watermelon Fusion & the heart is popped up with Journey Foam Squares. Unfortunately, I realized I had not yet purchased any FSJ pink ribbon so I raided my sewing stash for the ribbon & added a Sparkle Heart embellishment to the center. Pink ribbon will definitely be on my next order.

I’ll send this card off with a prayer that it brightens up the day for a patient or their family.

If you would like to send in a card before the end of October to the Be Brave Card Drive, you can check out the details here:

Blog Hop Banner

Welcome back to my blog & the Amazing Journey Blog Hoppers Hop! This month our theme  features  the Beautiful Wings Stamp Set. If you arrived here from Christine’s Blog you are right on track. If not, no worries, just keep hopping along until you come full circle.

I love butterflies & this set is so versatile. I chose to make a holiday card with the Beautiful Wings set & the Geo Burst Die. Thinking outside the box stretches your creativity. You don’t always  have to have a large selection of holiday stamps to create fabulous cards.

sept-blog-hop

White on white is so elegant & adding a touch of silver gives it pop. I added in some Journey Sparkle Cuts for holiday shimmer. I used  Beautiful Wings SS – 0353, the sentiment is from Robin Holiday SS-0378, Geo Burst Die DI-0217, Whip Cream Cardstock, Journey Sparkle Cuts, Journey Silver Embossing Powder, Journey Thread Silver & Journey Foam Squares.

Our family has indulged in hiking for a long time. I can’t do it as much as I used to with cranky joints but I enjoy every minute even if it’s easier trails these days. I am originally a Washington State native & like to say I was born in the shadow of Mt. Ranier. It always has been one of my favorite mountains and was the inspiration for this months card.

August-Blog-Hop

A lot of the pictures of Mt. Ranier show the mountain shadowed in blues, so I used that for my design cue. The card base is Huckleberry Fusion. I took a Whip Cream panel & colored it with Panpastels for the background. After stamping the mountains from the Climbing Mountains stamp set in Huckleberry Fusion ink, I fussy cut them & colored them with Color Splash pencils. The snowcapped peaks are dusted in Sparkle Dust. The images are layered & popped with Journey Foam Squares onto the background. I stamped the sentiments from Climbing Mountains & Adventure Awaits stamp sets in Black Licorice ink.

I hope this card inspires you to adventure. Your next stop on the hop is Betsye’s blog.

Christmas in July Fun Stampers Journey Blog Hop

Welcome back to my blog! We finally got our new house & I have been  busy unpacking & setting up. I managed to squeeze out a spot to create this week until the new studio is finished.

If you arrived here from Susan’s Blog you are right on track, if not, just keep journeying along & you’ll come back full circle.

This months theme is Christmas in July and with all the new goodies from the new Fun Stampers Journey  Journey Holidays Mini Catalog it wasn’t an easy choice on what to create. I really love the holiday birds available, so I picked Noel Chirp AT-0222, with the sentiment from Robin Holiday SS-0378 & the background from Pretty Flakes SS-0377. I went with a classic easy design since unpacking & getting settled in has taken top priority at the moment.

July-Blog-Hop

The card base is Catalina Splash, matted with Pool Play & accented with a Pretty Amethyst oval from the Journey Ovals. I am a huge fan of non-traditional Christmas color combos. For the background I stamped a snowflake in Journey Silver Fusion Ink & brushed the flakes with Journey Brush Silver PanPastel. I stamped the bird in Black Licorice Fusion Ink, colored with Catalina Splash, Pretty Amethyst, Pool Play, Citrus Cooler & Brush Silver PanPastels & fussy cut to pop onto the oval. The sentiment is stamped in Catalina Splash Fusion Ink.

Stay tuned for more projects & class updates as I get closer to opening up the new studio. It’s going to be amazing!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Kim’s Blog & see her wonderful creation!

Have a Fabulously Creative Week!

Journey Blog Hop – Anything Goes

Welcome back to my blog!

If you arrived here from Susan’s Blog  then you are right on track, if not just keep hopping until you come full circle.

This month’s theme is Anything Goes!

Most of my house is still packed up since we are kind of semi-homeless, with bare bones day to day items available, mainly kitchen & linens. However, since I was able to attend the Fun Stampers Journey Convention, I kept out all my products to create swaps with.

I brought back several new goodies from convention & decided to use a new product with a mix of current & retiring items.

Here is my card featuring the new Fun Stampers Journey Pan Pastels collection.

June-blog-hop

I was so excited when they announced that FSJ was adding Pan Pastels to the catalog, because I have worked with them before & taken classes in Pan Pastels!

To create this card I chose the dragonfly from the Color World stamp set from May’s Bloom Box. (Not a Bloom Box subscriber yet? You should be! You get a fabulous stamp set a full quarter before anyone else can purchase it & the kits & instructions to create 4 beautiful cards.)

I used the sentiment from the Glass Blooms stamp set also from a Bloom Box but you will find it in the new catalog July 1st!

After stamping both it was color time. We will have 4 new Pan Pastel color sets available & they come complete with Sofft tools to color with & palettes to hold your colors. I used a bit of color from all 4 collections.

pan-pastels

This is one of the color collections. Yummy & easy to use with a variety of media. Pan Pastels work with just about everything. Cardstock, canvas, even on your Journaling Bible pages  & doesn’t need to be set unlike traditional chalks & pastels, so very little chance of transferring color to other pages or items. It’s even erasable with a standard white or gum eraser.

My card includes Pool Play, Lemon Grass & Whip Cream cardstock with Media Prints Paper (retiring June 30th), a dash of Journey Sparkle Dust & Cut Rhinestones. Easy, peasy, lemon, squeezy.

If you would like a new catalog, would like to start a Bloom Box subscription or want to order some of these great supplies for your projects, click on the shop now button above. Just remember, new items won’t be available until July 1st.

If everything goes as planned, we will finally get to move into our new home July 1st. I will have a new 486 square foot studio & classroom space. Stay tuned for upcoming class announcements. I have several fun projects planned featuring items from the new Fun Stampers Journey Catalog. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Now hop on over to Betsye’s blog to see her fabulous creation!
