Anniversary Creation

Hi Angels!

Welcome back to my blog!

Today I am sharing the Anniversary Card I made for my daughter’s 3rd wedding anniversary.

I used a hand painted paper I made quite a while ago. I often hand paint in large batches & then can pull from my files anytime I want a special background. I believe this one was created with Easter egg dyes. You can buy the kits on clearance after the holiday. I used the tablets, dissolved in warm water & placed in a spray bottle.

The stamp for this card is from an old Unity KOTM April 2014. Sparkle is added with the glitter words & Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Silk. It looks like it has spots but it’s the sparkle reflecting in the light.

Simply Stunning!

I have officially been posting now for 209 days on my Facebook page. Be sure to check out my other creative endeavors. There are a couple of sneak peeks of the new Bloom This Way catalog premiering Jan. 1st. But there is lots of fun before then. We are having a Black Friday – Cyber Monday special this weekend and in December stay tuned for the 12 Days of Deals. Click my shop now button to go shopping.

I used a few of my Fun Stampers Journey supplies to create this card.

Welcoming Baby

Hi Angels! It’s SASS time at the studio!

Thanks for joining me today!

Today’s card is a baby card I created for my Chiropractor & his wife. After many years of waiting, they were finally blessed with an adorable baby girl.

Isn’t the little elephant cute? It was a joy to create such a fun card.

I want to address something. As most of you know I am a Fun Stampers Journey Coach which means I sell FSJ products to my customers but you can obviously tell by this card that I used a couple of other products on it. Why would I not use all FSJ? Well quite simply I have been creating for well over 30 years now. I have a huge variety & I love creating with diverse techniques & products. Most of the time my creations are designed from a vision I see in my imagination. Sometimes inspired by another artist’s creation that I truly like, I do CASE usually with a twist but 90% of the time it comes straight from my mind.  Being able to “dig” through my stash, gives me a huge variety to make my vision into art and a wise use of the resources I already own.  I also believe this is a valuable gift from God & it’s my joy to share creativity with everyone, especially as encouragement.

I love my Fun Stampers Journey products. They form the base of all my creations. A terrific color line of paper, inks & mixed media products, fabulous adhesives, a wonderful selection of dies, punches & stamps. I love the quality of all the products & the consistency in the colors throughout the color line. This quality allows me to create knowing my colors match beautifully. The things I use over & over again, like the ovals in this baby card, or my adhesives, allow me to create wonderful quality pieces of art.

There is one more important reason to use a variety to create. There was a statistic shared at CHA that 10 years ago there were over 2700 independent stores across America & Canada, now sadly there are just 340. Several more manufacturers & other small businesses have closed not reported in this statistic. Several of the art business I purchase from are small just like me & my FSJ business. They support their local economy, just like I do. They work from their homes, small offices or store fronts.  It’s important to support small business & the arts community. Because the big box stores decided they had to feature their own craft lines a few years back, you don’t see the rich diversity of what’s available on the market if you always shop with them. They have become cookie cutter to me, copying the latest trends in their own brand name so they reap more of the profits & often offer poor quality supplies. It’s a struggle for all art businesses in our current economy but it’s a bigger struggle for the smaller companies & home businesses.

I am a local small business. This is not only my business but my ministry. I offer classes & the Fun Stampers Journey product line for ordering. I believe Fun Stampers Journey has the perfect mix of products for stampers, scrappers & mixed media artists. My club is exclusively FSJ & about 90% of my classes are FSJ exclusive. I share my expertise with everyone who loves to create. At the SASS studio you can relax, enjoy creative time, make new friends, learn new tips & techniques & bless others by helping to create cards for our Troops & our local Salvation Army Angel Tree program.

I also hope that by sharing different things from time to time it inspires you to see what you already own in a new creative light.

Live big, support small, enjoy creating & share with others.

Thanks for popping by!

(Note: If you are new to creating, CASE means Copy & Share Everything. Art is meant to inspire so CASE & add your own flair.)

Blog Hop, Cards, Fun Stampers Journey

Childhood – Journey Blog Hoppers Hop

It’s time for another blog hop! This months theme is Childhood.

If  you arrived here from Heather’s blog, then you are right on track. If not just keep hopping along until you come full circle.

I had a bit of fun with my card this time. I love playing & experimenting. I saw a card on Pinterest from another company & decided to translate the sketch design into my card for this hop. I also had recently taken a class featuring the art of Laurel Burch & incorporated that too. Here is what I came up with in design:

I know several little girls that would love this card!

I started by making the colored circle. I took a Color Splash sheet & heavily spritzed it with water on both sides then started dropping Sweet Berry, Lavender Fusion & Pineapple Smoothie Splashes into the water on the Splash sheet.  When the color started to blob, I spritzed the sheet more. I set the sheet aside to dry.

I don’t work in gold a lot as I much prefer silver, but there is something about the thin gold lines in Laurel Burch art that is very appealing with the rich color. Much like the thin gold accents found in Washi or Yuzen paper, another favorite of mine. I stamped the angel from the Guardian Angel set in clear pigment ink & embossed in Gold embossing powder. I used my Color Splash Pencils & a Journey Blending Brush filled with water to color my angel. I left the wings uncolored, added glue & sprinkled with Sparkle Cuts. I cut my little angel out with the matching die.

Next I worked on the Whip Cream card base. I stamped the sentiment from Be Happy in Lavender Fusion. I took the large stars from Create Confetti, stamped them in clear ink & embossed with White Embossing powder.  They are subtle but add great tone on tone interest to the card with a bit of shine. After the Splash sheet was dry, I cut a circle out with Journey Circles & popped it & the angel on the circle with Journey Foam Squares.

Next up on the hop is Betsye’s blog.

It’s a short but fun hop this month! Please leave some love in the comments of each artist, it’s always appreciated.

February Card Buffet Part 2

Welcome back!

Today I am posting the last 4 cards from my February Card Buffet.  Check them out:

Aren’t these Color Cross cards beautiful? There are 2 because I colored them differently with the Confectionary Days Panpastels within the silver embossed outlines. The lovely flower card was made with the Amazing Day stamp set from the Bloom This Way mini catalog & colored with the Color Burst pencils.

I was trying to incorporate a couple of cards into the set that could easily be used for guys. The pup yesterday & the world card today are what I came up with. Again if you are not a Bloom Box subscriber, you will be waiting a couple of more months before  you can order the My World stamp set. It looks gray but the mat for the globe axis is brushed silver for just a touch of elegance on this card. The Bunny Bum was just pure fun. Unfortunately I had nothing on hand to create a fluffy white tail. The sentiment is from Happy Eggster which is a free Bloom Benefit. With every $50 you order, you can pick a Bloom Benefit for free all year round. We all like bonus & free items! Bloom Benefits include stamps, dies & embellishment pieces, there are several to choose from.

I hope you enjoyed this look at February’s Buffet cards. Think about joining in on April 29th for the next Card Buffet.  For March 25th, I will be hosting an RG Presents Spring into Summer event instead of a card buffet. There will be more RG Presents events this year. Stay tuned for more info.

February Card Buffet Part 1

Welcome back to my blog!

I’m  running a bit behind my goal to get 2 blog posts in a week but determined to make this week work. Life is still just upside down enough that I also am not getting my samples done as early as I’d like but I’m improving.

Most months of 2017 I will be offering a Card Buffet on the last Saturday of the month. It will include 8 cards for $1 each & you can make as many as you like. Now in order to keep it budget friendly these are simple, basic cards with just a touch of WOW. Also at this price point everyone is required to bring their own adhesives. It works really well & leftover card kits are modified either for Cards for the Troops or the Salvation Army to bless others.

In this post, I am highlighting the first 4 cards.

These cards feature our FSJ ATS stamps, perfect size for quick cards as well as Artist Trading cards and very affordable for starting your stamp collection. I also used our newest embossing folders for a bit of dimension. Fun! You can check out the newest products in the Bloom This Way mini catalog, but you’ll need to hurry as this is the last month before the Spring into Summer catalog launches April 1st.

These cards are so yummy! I cased the butterfly idea from a fellow coach because it’s so pretty. If you are not a Bloom Box subscriber you are going to have to wait a couple of months to purchase the butterfly. Bloom Boxes are so much fun & at $24.95 plus shipping a great way to treat yourself to a new stamp set & 4 cards kits, plus learn some new techniques each month. Bloom Boxes are a 6 month minimum commitment. You’ll get to play with brand new stamp sets a full 3 months before they are released for everyone to buy.

I used Panpastels on both of these cards for the fabulous bold color. On the banner card, I stamped the background in clear pigment ink & then colored with the Panpastels. The butterfly is stamped in Black Licorice & then colored.

Thanks for popping by! Stay tuned for Part 2 of the February Card Buffet.

Cards, Fun Stampers Journey

Another Dude Card

Welcome back to my blog!

There are pluses & minuses to working your own business from home, the most challenging one being time dedicated to the business. So I am going to challenge myself to post twice a week during the month of March & see if I can develop a new habit of posting more regularly. And don’t forget you can find more of my business posts over on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/SassyAngelSStudio/    I will often do quick posts of cards & artwork there as well as Fun Stampers Journey promotions & class reminders.

Our youngest son’s birthday is in February & like most of the guys in my family, well…let’s just say they don’t really care if we celebrate their birthday or not, or if they get a handmade card. However, we have a standing tradition of a family birthday dinner. Sometimes at a favorite restaurant & sometimes take out at home, playing board games & visiting.  I let Colton off the hook the past year or two with no card, so this year I made sure to create one for him.

I originally thought I might use this card for the Dude Blog hop & then decided to make the motorcycle card instead.

I used one of the prints from our Mother Nature collection for the background, layered on a Lemongrass card base. I happened to pick up the Pennant Fun dies at Leadership & decided they fit the patterned paper perfectly. I cut out my Whip Cream pennant with the piercing element for detail. I choose the Bike Life stamp set & embossed the bike with silver embossing powder. I then layered it on a Riverstone mat that I hand trimmed to be a little closer than the next size die cut which was too big for the card. The happy birthday sentiment is from the Rock Notes set & is silver embossed on the patterned paper. I whipped this card up in under 30 minutes, great when you need a card quick.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take some time out of your busy schedule to do something fun this week!

Dude Journey Blog Hop

Welcome to the Journey Blog Hoppers Hop!

If you arrived here from Becky’s  blog then you are right on track. No worries if you didn’t just keep hopping until you come full circle.

The theme for this month’s hop is Dude. It seems really easy to design feminine & general cards but a lot of us just draw a blank when it comes to designing a card for the guys. I find it especially challenging since I live with techno geeks not sports fanatics. I often choose nature or vehicles when designing masculine cards & this month is no exception.  I started my design process by flipping through my stamp sets & seeing what grabbed my attention. Having just modified a store-bought card with a car on it for a friend, I gravitated towards my FSJ Let’s Ride motorcycle stamp. Here is the result:

When the weather is warm, we see a lot of motorcycles here in Oklahoma. I made this card to reflect leaving the OKC metro area behind & hitting the open road. This card can easily be used for many different occasions.

The card base is Pomegranate Splash with Brushed Silver & Pool Play layers. I used the Journey Long Rectangles to create the horizon line & added a strip of Denim Days embossed with the new Love Stripes Embossing folder to the bottom. I needed a “city” so I used the Build-A Skyscraper stamp set to make my buildings. I used Pool Play ink for the buildings so they were more in the background. Tone on tone offers a softer effect. The sentiment is from the Hit The Road stamp set. I then stamped the Let’s Ride motorcycle on Whip Cream in Pomegranate Splash ink & fussy cut around the image. I then pulled out my Silver Silk & highlighted the lights & some of the chrome areas on the cycle. A touch of River Stone PanPastels beneath the bike softened the stark white so it blended with the card more. The motorcycle is popped with Journey Foam Squares.

Faith Journey Blog Hop

Blog Hop Banner

Welcome back to my blog & the Amazing Journey Blog Hoppers Faith Journey Hop! If you arrived here from Carol’s blog then you are right on track. If not, no worries, keep hopping & you’ll come full circle.

How we express our faith is different & unique to everyone. I usually don’t post a lot of “religious” stuff. I try to live by, though imperfectly, the 2 commands Jesus gave us. To love God with all our heart, soul & mind and to love our neighbors. Being the hands & feet of Jesus by loving & serving others is my small part in this world & it’s taken me a long time & a lot of grace to discover this.

One of the ways I absolutely have always loved to share is by encouraging others. Everyone can use a smile, kindness, thoughtful deed or some other small act to brighten their lives.

During October, Fun Stampers Journey is hosting a Be Brave Card Drive for breast cancer patients & their caregivers. Anyone battling any type of cancer is in for a rough road & faith can play an important part in the patients or their families journey. So I chose to make a pink ribbon card & use the Through the Storm stamp set.

faith-journey

Pink cards don’t have to be all pink. I used Huckleberry Fusion for the card base. The designer paper is a lovely ombre from the Party Pop Prints paper pack. I embossed the print with the Above the Clouds embossing folder & then highlighted the edges of the clouds with Bubble Gum Panpastels. I used the Heartfelt dies & piercing elements for the heart, which I also edged in Bubble Gum Panpastel. The sentiment is stamped in Watermelon Fusion & the heart is popped up with Journey Foam Squares. Unfortunately, I realized I had not yet purchased any FSJ pink ribbon so I raided my sewing stash for the ribbon & added a Sparkle Heart embellishment to the center. Pink ribbon will definitely be on my next order.

I’ll send this card off with a prayer that it brightens up the day for a patient or their family.

If you would like to send in a card before the end of October to the Be Brave Card Drive, you can check out the details here:

Christmas in July Fun Stampers Journey Blog Hop

Welcome back to my blog! We finally got our new house & I have been  busy unpacking & setting up. I managed to squeeze out a spot to create this week until the new studio is finished.

If you arrived here from Susan’s Blog you are right on track, if not, just keep journeying along & you’ll come back full circle.

This months theme is Christmas in July and with all the new goodies from the new Fun Stampers Journey  Journey Holidays Mini Catalog it wasn’t an easy choice on what to create. I really love the holiday birds available, so I picked Noel Chirp AT-0222, with the sentiment from Robin Holiday SS-0378 & the background from Pretty Flakes SS-0377. I went with a classic easy design since unpacking & getting settled in has taken top priority at the moment.

July-Blog-Hop

The card base is Catalina Splash, matted with Pool Play & accented with a Pretty Amethyst oval from the Journey Ovals. I am a huge fan of non-traditional Christmas color combos. For the background I stamped a snowflake in Journey Silver Fusion Ink & brushed the flakes with Journey Brush Silver PanPastel. I stamped the bird in Black Licorice Fusion Ink, colored with Catalina Splash, Pretty Amethyst, Pool Play, Citrus Cooler & Brush Silver PanPastels & fussy cut to pop onto the oval. The sentiment is stamped in Catalina Splash Fusion Ink.

Stay tuned for more projects & class updates as I get closer to opening up the new studio. It’s going to be amazing!

Now it’s time to hop on over to Kim’s Blog & see her wonderful creation!

Have a Fabulously Creative Week!

Valentine/Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the very 1st Journey Blog Hop featuring Fun Stampers Journey products & inspiration!

February Blog Hop

If you arrived from Rachael Shedeed’s blog, you’re right on track. If not, just keep hopping & you will see all the wonderful artwork in store for you today.

The theme for this hop is Valentine or Love creations. I like to make multi-purpose cards that can be used for multiple occasions, so I made a “Love” card. This card can be used for Valentine’s, Anniversary or just to say “Love You”.

Valentine-Love-blog-hop

I enjoy mixing up colors & this card is anything but the standard “love” colors. The card base is Cool Pool, layered with Pretty Amethyst, stamped in Pretty Amethyst Fusion Ink with the Whimsy Wallpaper background stamp. I then cut the largest oval with the Journey Ovals Dies & used the coordinating piercing die for some interest. I cut the next oval size down in Whip Cream & stamped “Love You” from the Sentimental Prints stamp set in Grape Fusion Ink. Layered these together & popped them on the card with medium Journey Foam Squares.

For the flowery details, I took Lemon Grass & cut out the vine border from the Border Details set. Played with its placement on the card & trimmed & attached. I added in a bit of detail to the leaves with a basic green marker. I stamped the flowers from the Sweet Today stamp set in Grape Fusion ink onto Pretty Amethyst paper. I die cut the flowers with the matching die set & then took my Details Pro Shears & trimmed the flower lines a bit deeper to shape the flowers a bit easier. For the circle flowers I stamped the small circle from the Sweet Today stamp set in Cool Pool fusion ink onto Cool Pool paper. I didn’t want a huge border around the circle flowers so I used the circle from the exclamation point die in the Seriously die set to cut out my circles. The Pretty Amethyst flowers are mounted flush on the card, the Cool Pool flowers are popped using the small Journey Foam Squares. I added medium Sparkle Drops to the flower centers to finish off the card.

I hope you enjoyed visiting my blog today. Please head over to Kathy Dowbenko’s blog to see what she has to share. If you get lost, the blogroll can be found here at Susan Berg’s blog.

Enjoy The Journey!
