I’ve still been busy sorting, purging & organizing. I do plan to get a bit more creating done in August and I’m squeaking in just under the wire with a Christmas in July post. I signed up for Scrapbook and Cards Today’s Merry Wishes event this past weekend.
So far I have only completed the 1st class.
I pretty much stayed to the design with just a couple of additions or changes here or there. These were fun to create and I can’t wait to complete the other classes. All 3 classes use the same products and the variations are all beautiful.
I hope everyone is staying cool during this hot summer. It’s definitely a good time to hide out inside & create, or sort in my case.
I’m challenging myself to get more posts done in August and get back in the art groove.
I spent the first couple of days this week catching up on some extra chores and did a bit of unpacking & purging today. We still had about 7 boxes from our move we never fully unpacked and we moved 7 years ago. Most were knickknacks that we simply had no where to display, some keepsake items & a few odds & ends. Three boxes are heading to the thrift shop. For the knickknacks, we picked up a display cabinet from Ikea and I’ll be deciding what will fill the shelves soon.
Also over the past couple of days I’ve been tea dying paper. I forgot I was brewing tea the other day, so it ended up quite strong, so instead of pouring it out, I opted to tea dye. I’m really picky about vintage style stuff and tea dye is much softer than coffee dyed. After dying about 20 regular sheets, I pulled out the Color Burst Powders and played with the next dozen sheets.
This is just a small sampling of the papers I created. They will make interesting pages in journals.
I hope you are having a wonderful week but staying cool. I know a lot of the states are experiencing wicked high temps.
While I was doing my Faith Art challenge, I didn’t post my other art, so I’ll be posting & sharing throughout the rest of July to catch up. No art last week but I did get some more clean up & organizing done and I did some tea dyed paper.
My oldest daughter Christi and my friend Gracie have April birthdays just one day apart. I used Taylored Expressions Ever in Bloom Create-in-Quads stencil to make their cards and you’ll see the other 2 Quad cards when I post Mother’s day. My daughter-in-love April has a May birthday and I used some of my hand colored paper for the butterflies on her card.
I have a couple of ideas I’d like to start working on this week, plus finish up my Beatitudes journal but I still have a large area I am trying to reorganize in the studio so hopefully I can balance it. I do have a fairly quiet week ahead which is usually good for projects.
Tonight’s share is a card set I made for my granddaughters with Taylored Expressions With All My ‘Art’ kit. When I saw the sample the designer made with the googly eyes, I knew it would be a perfect card for the girls.
I used a couple of different companies dies for my background mats so my design was a little different from the original.
It’s been a minute. Hopefully life will begin to fall into a more normal routine now that we’ve completed our anniversary trip, enjoyed our granddaughters visiting for a week and I’ve navigated another round of knee injections.
I only completed 51 days of my faith challenge but that’s okay. My asthma & allergies had me down for awhile but I will be finishing up my Beatitude journal & posting more faith art soon. I’ll also work on a bit of Christmas in July and some classes I need to finish and share.
I’ll be backtracking this week and off and on to share some of the art I have made and haven’t posted yet.
While we were on retreat in April, for fun we listed challenges for most days. I have some art challenge cards, so each of us pulled one out everyday or so and wrote them on a board. The idea was to see if we could incorporate them into the projects we were working on. It got us thinking outside of the box. We have retreat coming up again in just about 8 weeks & will probably play again.
This is one of the cards I created. We could use one or more of the elements listed that day. This one was a challenge to use One Word.
Do you have a favorite way to challenge yourself when creating?
I got my new The Chosen t-shirt and I created a Bible page page based on it. If you haven’t seen The Chosen yet, what are you waiting for? Download the free app and start watching soon.
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. John 6:9-11 ESV
I used Distress Oxides to shade in the background a bit, then added 2 stencils over the page. I found a children’s printable with the loaves & fish & printed out & colored.
I had a wonderful birthday today spent with precious friends which lead to today’s creation. There are a few friendships listed in the Bible and Paul describes Philemon as a dear friend and fellow worker in the Lord.
Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Philemon 1:7 NIV
I pulled out my tiny Journal the Word New Testament to create this page with some simple stenciling and a few die cuts.
