Dream Magic

Hi Angels!

I am having a great time designing for Monday’s class Young at Heart. Well, except for the crazy wasp that got into the studio today. He was doing that fall drunken bee thing, ugh!

Today’s card features some monochromatic fun. I used My Favorite Things Magical Friends to create this card and a wood sentiment stamp by Great Impressions.

I raided my background stash for this marbled background. Since I rarely make one background, I have enough to share for class. A little accent stamping with a touch of colored pencil & a Gelly Roll Stardust Clear pen makes an easy card.

Stay tuned for more Young at Heart fun.

Troop Work & Hugs

Hi Angels!

It has been a very long day. The Angels & I worked many hours processing almost 1150 troop cards. I put in 9.5 hours myself. Whew!

Here is a look at both sides of the table after all our hard work. This is only part of what we got done. I got this packed into boxes ready for the holiday shipment coming up.

Despite the many hours of work, I decided to create a quick 10 minute card. I pulled a couple of die cuts off my work top. The “Hugs” is from My Favorite Things and the flower from happy mail. I picked out a background I had embossed awhile ago, added a card base & fast card.

All the Angels deserve a huge hug for all their help today! Many thanks! This is our favorite kindness project, providing cards for the troops to send home.

Time for some sleep.

Look for the Miracles Slimline

Hi Angels!

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday.

We had a fairly quiet but warm day here.

Tonight’s card uses the negative print of last night’s Brutus Monroe Victorian Swirl stencil. If I think I have enough ink on a stencil after coloring through it, I will often spritz it with water & try to take a negative print with the color on the stencil. I have found it’s actually quite effective if I spritz the paper with water first & then only lightly mist the stencil before trying to take an impression.

This gave such a beautiful soft watercolor look to the print that I knew I just had to create something. I’ve been wanting to play with silhouette images so I pulled out My Favorite Things Flower Silhouettes and opted to do them in the card base color. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles set. The butterfly is one of my oldest stamps when All Night Media used to make them on foam blocks.

Kindness today came when our oldest son & his wife came to assist us when our van wouldn’t start. Seems like it was just a bit of corrosion on the battery & the cable was a bit loose. The battery tested great for a charge thankfully.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Hello Beautiful Slimline

Hi Angels!

It has been a busy week as I had some errands to run & was prepping the Cards for the Troops shipment. You can see the details of the shipment on my Facebook page.

After 2 days of dealing with migraines & still taking care of things, I finally made it out to the studio for a few minutes to create. I just love how this card came out.

Isn’t it just gorgeous! I used the new Brutus Monroe Slimline Stencil Victorian Swirl with Catherine Pooler inks. Then I used the new Pink & Main slimline die sets Stitched (layers of stitched rectangles), Beautiful & Sympathy. Another great set of dies that coordinate together.

The Troop cards are always a kindness project plus I gave some encouragement this week too. Sometimes it’s the little bits of kindness that can mean the most.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Pumpkin

Hi Angels!

Personally it’s a little early for fall for me, however, I kept seeing such cute designs with Catherine Pooler Designs Hey Pumpkin stamp set that I ordered one & it arrived today.

After a long day of errands, chores, teaching & troop work, I decided to pop back into the studio this evening & create a card inspired by one of the brand ambassadors designs.

These pumpkins just make me smile in their variety of color. I used the new CP Mini Inks from the Spa Collection Paradise Found. I had decided that I didn’t want another full size set of ink pads so opted for the CP Mini’s & I love them. They are really a nice size for a variety of projects. Easy to use & handle.

I have been working on a couple of the behind the scenes kindness projects that will remain behind the scenes. I have a lot of fun planning surprises & things that are meant to bring joy in a quieter way. No matter how you share kindness, keep sharing it, we need a whole lot of it flooding the world right now.

Thanks for popping in!

Summer Hello Slimline

Hi Angels!

Boy is this Grammy tired. Little Miss Nora came to visit & spend the night & even she was so tuckered out, she fell asleep on the way home this afternoon. We had lots of fun & did a wee bit of artwork together of course.

I did start a Bible Journaling page yesterday but it’s not quite finished so I opted for a quick card tonight. I had done a trial cut of the A Jillian Vance Design Slimline Signature Polka Dot Cover Plate die on red but hadn’t designed anything yet. I enjoyed playing with the daisies so much a couple of days ago that I created a cute summer hello.

I also used the Essentials Backdrop die that has coordinating stitching and dug up my big hello & daisy set from FSJ. This will make a great kindness card to

I have a couple of busy days the next couple of days so this Grammy better get some rest.

More on my kindness project soon.

Have a Fabulous Week!

Prayer Window

Hi Angels!

I had so much fun making tonight’s card! I just started playing & it came together. Stunning!

I started with the Brutus Monroe Chapel Art Stencil to create the stain glass window effect with Distress Inks. Loved it, but it didn’t stand out against the background. So I placed the stencil back in place, covered it up & decided the outside of the window needed to look like a wall & I didn’t want brick. Did you know you can use your dies for stencils? Yep. I pulled out my new Gemini Dry Stone Wall Create a Card die & shaded right through the openings. I rinsed it off & dried it very thoroughly. The dove is from the Bo Bunny Believe die set and the sentiment is Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background.

Today’s kindness was helping a couple of animal rescues out with medical & food needs. All God’s creatures great & small need love & care too.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Hugs!

Heart Smile

Hi Angels!

Sometimes the best kindness is to yourself, especially after dealing with a migraine on Tuesday. Yesterday I ran a couple of errands, did a little troop work and then just chilled. Today I did something I haven’t done in awhile and that was just poke around a couple of stores with no real agenda, then treated myself to lunch. Of course in addition to being kind to me, I also left a nice tip for my waitress. Most restaurants are still not at full capacity so there’s just not the tips for the waitstaff like usual.

Tonight I got my main worktop cleaned off & tidied, then created a quick card using the heart cutouts from the faith, hope & love card I posted last week.

The hearts are from A Jillian Vance Design Slimeline Heart Window & Words Cover Plate die set. I always love projects that I can create a 2 for one and this cover plate set offers just that.

Since there are obviously no slimline embossing folders as far as I know, I experimented with the Ornate Floral folder from Stampin’ Up! to see if I could get an even emboss flipping the cardstock piece. If you look close there is a thin meeting line but overall I had good success on my 2nd attempt. The smile is from a Sizzix set & the daisies are an old retired FSJ set.

Thanks for stopping by.

Blooming Hello

Hi Angels!

Today’s kindness was working on some “happy mail” to send out. I have been focusing on those who need some cheer, requests for family & friends who may be ill or having a special birthday, etc. A wonderful way to share some encouragement especially since some of us are still in areas of quarantine.

I found these really cute happy mail stickers on Etsy.

I dealt with a migraine most of the day so I made another quick card tonight. I blended a little Distress Oxides through Taylored Expressions Blooming Beautiful stencil and added the Sweet Hello die cut from My Favorite Things.

This bright cheery card is sure to brighten up someone’s day in my next happy mail batch.

Thanks for popping by.

Sketchbook Floral

Hi Angels!

Whew! It’s been a busy day. I spent almost 7 hours working on Cards for the Troops with the help of the Angels for about 5.5 hours of the day. Makes for some good visiting time while we work. We processed over 670 cards today.

I created a relatively fast card tonight using the new Field Notes kit from Taylored Expressions featuring the Sketchbook Florals stamp set.

This is when it pays to have a stash of watercolor/spray type backgrounds on hand and these two paired lovely together. A quick cut oval, a couple of stamps and instant card perfect to brighten someone’s day.

Don’t forget to do something kind everyday this week. The world can certainly use a few more smiles and good surprises.
