I am putting the finishing touches on tomorrow’s class and grabbed what I had on my worktop to make tonight’s card.
This card definitely has a mixed media feel with the watercolor mop up piece I used for the birdhouse & bird plus the reverse print of the polka dot stencil background I used to create the main polka dot pattern. I used Lawn Fawn’s Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-on to create this card.
I am not so tired today, did a bit of a reset of my plans since it’s mid-year, tidied up the studio some and will work on getting my schedule back in shape. Sometimes you just need a little bit of reflection time.
Today’s card is also made with scraps but unlike last night’s ‘eh’ this one is ‘wow’.
I popped into HL yesterday to pick up a couple of things for the granddaughters & did pop by the paper craft section which they were doing a complete redo on. I’ve got a couple of ideas I’ve been mulling around & decided to pick up the bird & branch set from Momenta. Sorry they just have a number no name. The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
Some rest & a fresh perspective definitely make a difference.
Good news, my album is ready to decorate after class tonight the ‘eh’ news is my card is just so-so. I was playing with a new die & some scraps.
I was looking for a particular doily die & picked up a couple of more in the process. The one on tonight’s card is from the Scrap Man & is called Ethno Doily 2. It’s really pretty.
So after years & years of creating every once in a while I make a card and go “that’s okay but” and that’s perfectly fine. I still like the card, I’ll still send it to make someone happy. You don’t have to be top of your game all the time when you create.
I’m a bit tired & on creative overload after concentrating on the album class. I create because it’s just part of what makes me, me. And of course I needed something to post for my challenge today.
I literally was just trying a bit & that for this card design. I wanted a more classic darker blue for the red polka dots but it just really dragged the card down. Then the brighter blue was too plain. I added ink dots & it helps. If I really thought the card was awful it would have hit the trash.
Another lesson, you don’t have to try to salvage or live with something. Most paper only costs a few cents and except for the cardbase this card was made with all scraps from other projects. Practice & play does not always lead to a great creation but it’s very necessary to get to that great creation. So tonight was more of a play date, working out an idea & it’s just okay but not over the top.
I think a good night’s rest in is order & tomorrow I can come play in the studio refreshed & ready to design for my next class & decorate my album.
Play, Practice, Stumble a bit, Soar even more, Create & Inspire!
I was prepping my materials for an online class I am taking tomorrow & the time got away from me.
Nice should always be an option in our lives, goes hand & hand with kindness.
Another card using the Paige Evans Wonders Collection from my April SCT Kit. The bargain of these kits are wonderful. I can easily create about 10 cards or more with the papers this one included & I haven’t even tried the stamp set yet. I am very glad I subscribed.
Do you subscribe to any creative kits? What do you like most about them?
I ran a few errands today so since my SCT April Sampler is still out, I grabbed it for another quick card.
I just loved this floral pattern paper & the idea popped for just the right creation with the paint stroke type pattern that was in the set. A few sequins & a pretty card is all done. These papers are more from the Paige Evans Wonders Collection.
Looking forward to being home tomorrow & getting some tidying done in the studio then creating some more.
When I saw this cute Pig Time set from Pink and Main it just tickled and made me smile. And we can always use a smile
One of the Pink and Main designers used a partially stenciled background on her samples for the set so I decided to case that technique for these cards. I used Pink and Main Daisies & Flora stencils and the pigs are colored with Prismacolors.
I’ve been puttering around the house this Friday. I started a small art project but it’s not quite ready to share so I picked out a few pieces from my SCT Sampler & made a quick card.
I don’t often mix pattern papers but it’s fun sometimes to see what you can come up with.
The envelope die cut & circle patterned paper came from the Paige Evans Wonder Collection & the striped background paper came from the Photoplay Fern & Willard Collection. Because both collections have similar colors, it makes it easy to mix & match. I added a die cut love & some more gold hearts.
I think these small sampler kits are going to be so much fun to play with. The small sampling of products is just right to play with some new products without busting the budget.
Find some time to do something creative this weekend!
I was finally able to catch up with a few things today after our trip including some much needed rest.
I dug into the infamous Bits & Pieces box to create today’s card.
I watched a couple of short art videos & one inspired me to dig into my Bits & Pieces box. Everything was already pre-cut, I just added a hint of stenciling to the white oval to give it a little more pizzazz. Fast & easy.
I’m hoping to spend a bit more time creating tomorrow. Hubby is still home on vacation so sometimes what I plan doesn’t match up with what he plans.
