2019 Calendar Creation – Part 1

Hi Angels!

Nothing like watching the past 2 weeks fly by & miss my new goal of 3 blog posts a week. The 1st week I was unearthing the study & last week was a variety of appointments. Whew! I did get a live video in so a bit of progress is always good.

Today’s share is from the 2019 Calendar Class. I think this is the 5th or 6th year the Angels have enjoyed creating a calendar. Instead of just some stamping & diecuts this year, I designed mixed media style backgrounds with inks, Liquid Color & Color Burst & stencils. So fun & definitely messy.

Let’s take a look at the 1st four months.

For January – I did the zig-zag technique on the Gel Press with my custom Create-a-Palette ink pads in blues & purples. Then I stencil snowflakes over the background.

For February – I used Distress Oxides & a dauber on the background, then overlaid a stencil with hearts & applied more ink daubered on.

For March – I applied a bit of Color Burst to the Gel Press, spritzed & got a great watercolor type background. But it was the 2nd pull that was a bit more blotchy that was the winner for this page. It really popped with the stenciled leaves.

For April – I used my new Clarity Stencil I picked up from Simon Says Stamp with 3 ink colors & applied with a dauber.

The really fun part of working with so many different mediums is no 2 backgrounds are exactly the same. They all vary based on amount of color, amount of medium, how it’s applied, etc.

Backgrounds are a cool way to play when you think your muse took a hike, you feel uninspired, your tired but still want to make a little art or you just flat want to get messy & create something!

Pull out some inks, paints, liquid colors, whatever you have handy & add some color to some cardstock with no plan in mind for the outcome. Pick your favorite colors & have fun!

More calendar pages coming soon.

September News & Updates

Hey Angels!

Wow, August flew by fast! I thought I’d get a couple of more blog posts in & poof the month was gone!

I am working harder on my creating & business to continue to move myself ahead of schedule. Start to look for more updates on classes & techniques soon.

I also did my first Facebook live with a quick intro & tour of the studio.  You can see my Facebook page here. There’s a marbling video coming soon, maybe even by this Friday. Stay tuned.

So on to September. I did some adjusting to the class schedule. Please check the current class page for details. I am hosting an all day Blessing Events for the Troops on Saturday Sept. 16th to make as many Christmas cards as possible for our service members. They have to be sent in October to reach them in time to send home to their families. Please consider joining us in studio for this event.

I am also adding a Shaker card class to the calendar Monday Sept 18th. Join us for a “shaking” good time. :0)

We have some great specials in September. Mixed media is the current hot trend. Several Fun Stampers Journey products will be 20% off during September including our Gel Press. It’s a great time to stock up on fresh new creative supplies.  A great starter kit just got better with more supplies heading your way. If you’d like to join the Sassy AngelS team, this is a great time. After you place your 1st $150 order, you will receive a mixed media kit valued at over $100, sure to spark some great creative projects.

The September Bloom Box is fabulous! Hello Sunflower is expected to sell out. Remember you can now order 2 ways,  either a 6 month subscription so you never miss the fun or one box at a time for the ones you really like.

I will be traveling to Waco, Texas in late September to attend RG Hits the Road. The wonderful thing about our FSJ events is the creative inspiration & new ideas shared. I am sure I will be bringing back some fabulous ideas to share for future projects.

Thanks for popping by for an update.

Do something creative to bless others this week.

Have Courage

Hey Angels!

Still working on getting regular posts done. I have started to schedule regular work hours for the studio & hope to add in video soon.

Fortunately life is flexible. This canvas class was scheduled for earlier this month & now it’s on the 31st. There is still time to join in some creative fun. You will have the option of the sunset background or a more sky blue type background for this canvas. You will also have a few more options of sentiments to personalize your canvas with.

I had a lot  of fun creating this canvas. I started with a general idea of what I wanted to design & just started playing. I wanted this 1st canvas class to be fairly simple but still have lots of texture & visual interest. It came out great!

This canvas features Tiger Bonsai from the new Mystic Romance collection. I am loving the new embroidery look to these stamps.

Find some time to get creative this week!
