Hi Angels!
Nothing like watching the past 2 weeks fly by & miss my new goal of 3 blog posts a week. The 1st week I was unearthing the study & last week was a variety of appointments. Whew! I did get a live video in so a bit of progress is always good.
Today’s share is from the 2019 Calendar Class. I think this is the 5th or 6th year the Angels have enjoyed creating a calendar. Instead of just some stamping & diecuts this year, I designed mixed media style backgrounds with inks, Liquid Color & Color Burst & stencils. So fun & definitely messy.
Let’s take a look at the 1st four months.

For January – I did the zig-zag technique on the Gel Press with my custom Create-a-Palette ink pads in blues & purples. Then I stencil snowflakes over the background.
For February – I used Distress Oxides & a dauber on the background, then overlaid a stencil with hearts & applied more ink daubered on.

For March – I applied a bit of Color Burst to the Gel Press, spritzed & got a great watercolor type background. But it was the 2nd pull that was a bit more blotchy that was the winner for this page. It really popped with the stenciled leaves.
For April – I used my new Clarity Stencil I picked up from Simon Says Stamp with 3 ink colors & applied with a dauber.
The really fun part of working with so many different mediums is no 2 backgrounds are exactly the same. They all vary based on amount of color, amount of medium, how it’s applied, etc.
Backgrounds are a cool way to play when you think your muse took a hike, you feel uninspired, your tired but still want to make a little art or you just flat want to get messy & create something!
Pull out some inks, paints, liquid colors, whatever you have handy & add some color to some cardstock with no plan in mind for the outcome. Pick your favorite colors & have fun!
More calendar pages coming soon.
