Mother’s Day Cards 2022

Hi Friends!

I hope your last week or so has been wonderful. I have been creating but not having the time to post between busy & allergies.

Today I am sharing the Mother’s Day cards I made my daughters and daughter-in-law. Lots of fun doing a few different techniques. A couple are inspired by recent video tutorials on Youtube. All the cards incorporate My Favorite Things stamps & dies.

My oldest daughter’s card has a combination of handmade background paper with shimmer paper added to a sparkling design paper.
My daughter-in-law’s card is ink blended, then I hand fussy cut the whole piece.
My youngest daughter is a dog mom so of course cute pawprints on hand dyed paper was just the perfect touch.

These were so fun to make and I’m settling more & more into creating for the shear joy of the process & to bring smiles to someone’s day. So I may not be posting as often but I am creating everything with love.

Have a fabulous week!

Blessings!

Up & Away Birthday

Hi Friends!

I hope you had an awesome weekend! We definitely enjoyed the time with our granddaughters. They will be moving a few hours away soon.

It’s May & my birthday month & for the past 5-6 years I have bee doing a monthly art challenge, but this year I have decided to continue to enjoy creating at a quieter pace & keep purging. Don’t worry, I’ll still have plenty of inspiration to share.

My oldest daughter’s birthday was Friday and I decided to create with Concord & 9th’s Up & Away Die set.

The best thing about having a background stash is I don’t always have to start from scratch to design a great card. I pulled this beautiful alcohol ink background to die cut the balloon, added a glitter heart and a silver basket to complete. I used My Favorite Things Stamps Stylish Birthday Die-namics with their cloud stencil for the background.

I hope you have a great week ahead. It’s definitely May in Oklahoma, we had a few storms and a couple of tornadoes this evening (no tornadoes near us). We are expecting more storms on Weds. Spring is here.

Birthday Shiplap

Hi Friends!

I am still sorting away in the studio. Today I put in about 3 1/2 hours, whew!

Today was my youngest son’s birthday. My guys just don’t like to be fussed over for their birthdays or the holidays so often a quick & easy card is the way to go.

Bonus, this is a ‘scrap attack’ card. The teal is an old Bo Bunny paper from way back when, I had the right sizes in light & dark gray for the shiplap background from Taylored Expressions & to shadow the letters. The sentiment is a retired My Favorite Things Dienamics. Extra bonus, I got a new system to store my scraps in folders, I’ll start setting up tomorrow. Who knows what I’ll ‘scrap attack’ next.

This would be a great card style to have on hand in a few different colors & sentiments.

I hope you are spreading some extra love & kindness during the month of love.

Blessings!

Love You More

Hi Friends!

After running my last couple of errands today before the wintry weather comes in, I got some sorting done. Then to make a quick card, I looked up a quick sketch & created a “scrap attack” card. Digging in my scraps to make the card.

Quick & easy. I die cut & punched the hearts out of scraps and the black & white piece is from the scrap bin too. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Essentials Sayings set.

I hope to tackle more sorting & projects while “hiding out” from the weather. Several places have already announced closings for the next couple of days.

Stay safe & warm.

Blessings!

Anniversary Love

Hi Friends!

I spent yesterday doing some more organizing & sorting. Because I changed the location of a few items, I now have a really big sort & straighten project going on plus slimming down a bit. I see a couple of weeks ahead of hard work.

In between organizing I have started 2 mini albums and grabbed some items from the infamous Bits & Pieces box for tonight’s card.

I pulled a scrap of pink out for the mat and stamped it with My Favorite Things Romantic Script. Pulled a few sentiments out of my Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background stash and used the die cuts from the Bits & Pieces to finish the card.

I hope you have a fabulous week! Don’t forget to check on your neighbors if you are experiencing a bit of winter weather.

Blessings!

Pursue Shalom

Hi Friends!

Today didn’t go quite as planned but that’s okay I still got a few things done including this Faithdex card.

I didn’t have any ideas for what I wanted to create so I looked through some of my newer supplies and decided I wanted to do something with the origami cranes from Catherine Pooler Designs Origami Cheers stamp set. In this design I have used them as doves of peace. I then searched out a Bible verse that would relate to my one little word ‘one another’. Hebrews 12:14

Pursue shalom with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. TLV

The “cathedral” window is created with Brutus Monroe Chapel stencil and a soft blend of Distress Oxides. I outlined the window, drew in the bricks using My Favorite Things Slimline English Brick Wall stencil and colored the “doves” with a Sakura Clear Stardust Pen which actually comes out a beautiful silver glitter. The verse is hand lettered.

Shalom, sweet peace my friends.

Ribbon Tree

Hi Angels!

It’s been a wee bit. I think I’ve caught up on rest from taking care of Reilly, who is doing great by the way & sees the vet tomorrow to get his staples out. Almost 3 weeks of doggy care.

While I haven’t been creating a whole lot, I have been sorting, organizing, doing some hand sewing & we got the new rug down on the studio floor. I have a couple of projects in the works and hopefully will be back on track to regular creating.

I was finishing up one of the classes from Crop & Create & stopped to create this card using the Trinity Stamps Ribbon Swirl Tree stencil that came in an order today.

I love designs that offer a modern twist or different perspective on the holidays and this tree is just perfect. I used Wilted Violet & Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides, some glittering snowflakes and the sentiment from My Favorite Things Merry & Bright set.

I hope your are looking forward to a wonderful weekend and a bit of kindness sharing along the way.

Christmas Wreath

Hi Angels!

Allergies continue to sideline me including the dog, who went to the vet unexpectedly this morning for severe allergic dermatitis, so I didn’t work on anything yesterday like I wanted and today was a bit slow but I got a card done & started another project.

I have been wanting to make this card since I saw the video by Verity Biddlecombe from Pretty Little Button during the July Cardmaker Success Summit. I had no leafy wreath stencils, so hunted down the Altenew one she used & ordered it.

I love how this turned out. I probably wouldn’t do a large batch but it would be pretty simple to assembly line about 6 of them in a short period of time.

I switched my colors up a bit from the video but it’s pretty much the same design. I used Altenew’s Wonderful Wreath Stencil, Catherine Pooler Designs Merry Christmas Word Die and sentiment from My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes.

Hope you’ve found some time to work on your holiday projects. The holidays will be here before we know it.

Christmas in July – Pine Branch

Hi Angels!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

I got about 3 more buckets sorted today. I was trying really hard to get the scraps down to one file container but with some of my specialty papers that cost a bit more, it ended up being 2.

I opted for a quick card this evening.

This card would make quick multiples if you wanted to do a set. I used The Crafters Workshop Fir Branch stencil with My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes for the sentiment. I used Distress Oxides in Pine Needles & Peacock Feathers for the pine needles & since I don’t have any brown oxides, I grabbed Antique Linen & Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks for the pine cones.

I have a fairly busy week ahead with some early mornings but still will be sorting & creating.

Hope your week is Fabulous!

Christmas in July – Peaceful Sprig

Hi Angels!

I have you’ve had a fun and relaxed weekend! Summer just seems like the best time to combine fun in the sun with some time to chill out & relax.

I got the studio tidied up for a week of creating ahead. I’m taking a class, designing a class & still enjoying the techniques from the Card Makers Success Summit – Christmas in July. I got the VIP pass so will be able to work my way through the techniques & videos at my own pace. Tonight’s card is from one of the tutorials.

This was a fun stencil masking class from Laurie Wilson. She is the creative inspiration behind Taylored Expressions great masking stencil line. I think my favorite part of this technique was the shadowing overlay of the striped stencil. I used Taylored Expressions Masking Rectangle stencil & Seasonal Sprig stamp & layering stencil set and for the stripes I used My Favorite Things Candy Stripes stencil. I also used Candied Apple & Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Inks for all the coloring with a touch of Nuvo Glitter Gloss for the berries.

Blessings for a great week ahead!
