I thought a little bright happy color was in order for today’s post. Another Crop & Create class from the October event with Hero Arts.
Laura Bassen taught this class & she is always one of my favorite instructors. We used the Hero Arts Yay! Birthday Bundle and Party Confetti stencil. With the New Year approaching it’s time to start planning our occasion cards for family & friends for 2023. These would make a great start.
I finished my final class for the event, the Brutus Monroe Lunch & Learn from Sunday. There is a suggested community project from Hero Arts & Jennifer McGuire I may visit later but all my classes are complete. Yay!
These trees were fun to create with the stamp, die & stencil combo.
Both trees have their own fall charm but I like the ink blended tree the best. Brutus Monroe was very clever in designing the quad 6×6 paper with the blend of fall colors to use on card one. I substituted Taylored Expressions Simple Strips for the sentiments.
It’s an adventure weekend with our granddaughters so there may be some fun art to post. Stay tuned.
I finally got my Lawn Fawn class finished from my Crop & Create event the first of the month. One more class to complete. Yay!
Lawn Fawn brought Frosties out of retirement at the request of Jenn Shurkus for this event and created a matching die & stencil set to go with the stamps.
Jenn is a great teacher & these were lots of fun with watercolor & blending techniques and a finishing touch of Stickles. And in typical SASS style, I switched up a couple just a wee bit.
I can’t wait for this weekend for Jenn’s Creative Journey Holiday Card event. 12 cards in 2 days, although we will have the granddaughters part of Saturday so I’ll have to make up a few after the weekend. I’m hoping I have time this week for a little bit of a head start.
Almost done with my weekend of classes, I still have 2 to complete but may take a couple days since my pup will have to have a 2nd surgery for an abscess & I’m already a bit sleep deprived.
I didn’t think I would have as much fun as I did with the paper piecing Doodlebug class with Vicki Boutin but I was so wrong. It’s fresh inspiration for working with shapes & pattern papers. The die set is so versatile and the stamp set adds some fun elements.
This set and the papers were made exclusively for our event but if you have similar die shapes it would be easy to recreate these cards & even put a different spin on them. I’ll have to find time to play some more because Doodlebug included an idea sheet with even more fun designs to create. Primarily a winter/holiday set, Vicki also created a card for everyday by using the petal shapes for flowers.
Look at your dies & see if there are some common shapes you can create different element with in a new way.
A short pause yesterday in posting since I was at the ER Vet with Reilly, he developed an infection in his incision area. They took excellent care of him & hopefully we are back on the mend.
Sometimes with the Crop & Create classes it’s difficult to pick a favorite. The Pinkfresh Studio is tied for the top honor with the Gina K ink blending class. As I’ve said before daisies are my absolute favorite flower.
We used the Daisy Slimline Layering Stencil with the coordinating die and the Scripted Greetings die set. Lea Lawson taught us the versatility of a slimline set as we created a regular slimline, mini slimline and regular A2 card. She suggested the regular slimline would make a great shaker card so I decided to go for it. There will be a matching stamp set when this set is released late this month that I can’t wait to get to complete the set.
I hope your Sunday has been blessed & you have a great week ahead. Don’t forget to share some kindness!
I hope you are looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
I wish I could say the same but until Reilly is further on the mend, this furmama is on full time nurse duty.
Sunday morning brought our class with Cathy Zielske presenting the cool Concord & 9th’s Grateful Blooms stamp & die set. If you are familiar with Concord & 9th’s Turnabout stamps this stamp set is a slightly different take on a turnabout. The 2 main stamps in this set make a complete circle when stamped. Represented in the 2 grateful cards below.
Then we got this really cool 2 piece scallop circle die that has one element that looks like a doily. We were paper piecing just the white one but I figured if I was using the 3 colors I might as well make a set of three so I didn’t waste any parts. I had diecut some extra sentiments from one of the other classes so it was easy to make 2 more cards.
Concord & 9th also included the matching paper & inks for this class. Just love the colors they chose for us to play with.
FYI: sign-ups for the Spring Crop & Create happen a bit later this month if you’d like to join the fun.
Last Saturday’s classes were filled with rich color including The Stamp Market’s class. My favorite of course is the ink blended leaves with glitter paste.
The Stamp Market provided us with a stamp set A Bit of Everything with matching dies, a beautiful leaf layering stencil and a selection of their colored cardstock we used for the die cut hearts card. These cards were so fun in their bright fresh colors.
Have a great Friday and share a bit of light & kindness.
This was one of my favorite classes last weekend with Gina K. from Gina K. Designs.
I just love ink blending and these came out fabulous with the Friendly Silhouettes set.
We did masking with Gina K. Designs Masking Magic & it works so smoothly & releases so well from your project. Good thing I have a package or 2 on hand already for future projects. The stamp set will be released a bit later along with a new masking die set from Gina K. Designs. Some sets are exclusive to the event & some are previews of new releases from some of the companies. Always fun.
Have you been spreading a bit of kindness lately? Thanks to the event I have a couple more ideas I can work on but right now helping our elderly dog after surgery is where my kindness is focused.
Looks like it’s going to be a week of quick posts. Taking care of a pup with multiple drains after surgery is a lot of work.
Finishing up my Friday creations from the Crop & Create event with Honey Bee Stamps cute little beehive set, You’r a keeper.
In real life I’m not a huge fan of bees but this is an adorable little set. We colored with markers and did a simple shaded background on one and a “smoosh” background on the other. So fun.
A quick post tonight as our dog had surgery today & is on restricted movement. He’s pretty tired & sore, poor pup.
On Friday Becky Moore from Photoplay stamps showed us how to create out own mask/layering stencil effect using our stamped image. The Happy Birthday stamp set was created exclusively for the event.
We did the blue present in class & I created a pink so I had one guy and one gal card on hand.
Enjoy tomorrow & spread some kindness along the way.
