Birthday Foiling

Hi Angels!

Recently I held a foiling class using the Spellbinders Glimmer Machine. After class I needed to make my dear friend Margaret a birthday card, so since the machine was out I did a “Happy Birthday” sentiment. After I designed the card, I liked it so much, that I decided to make it our club card too for this week except I changed it from pink & red to red & silver.

Margaret loves red & this came out so elegant.
The club version is even more classy.

These cards are so beautiful & easy to make.

  • Cut a Cranberry Bliss card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Take a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Black Licorice cardstock mat & die cut with the FSJ Artful Burst die and adhere to card base. (Pro tip: cut your cardbase & decorative mat while waiting for the Glimmer machine to heat up.)
  • I used the Happy Birthday from Becca Feeken’s Elegant Occasion Sentiments Hot Foil Plates to create the foiled sentiment. I like this set because it has matching outline dies to cut the sentiment out when done. The Glimmer machine is very easy to use.
  • Pop sentiment up on card with foam squares & add rhinestone accents.

Thanks for stopping by. More shares coming soon. I am working harder to make my art & posting a priority with this year’s schedule.

Anniversary Bears

Hi Angels!

I hope you have had time to catch your breath from all the holiday bustle & perhaps spend some time playing with new art goodies.

Today’s share is the anniversary card I made for my oldest daughter & son-in-law for their 17th wedding anniversary. I used the new Penny Black Nose to Nose stamp I picked up in Branson.

Originally released for the holidays, I think this stamp makes a great anniversary, love or Valentine card too. Let’s take a look at the basics.

  • Cut a card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ from Cranberry Bliss cardstock & fold in half.
  • Cut a mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ from Brushed Silver & emboss with Darice Tribal Background embossing folder. Attach to card.
  • Stamp bears in Riverstone ink onto Whip Cream cardstock & color with your choice of colors. (Pro-tip – a gray or brown ink softens a stamped image.)
  • I used Spellbinders A2 Curved Matting Basics set B to trim image & cut a matching Cranberry Bliss mat. Adhere both layers together & pop onto card.
  • Since the sentiment distracted from the image on front, I stamped the new Fun Stampers Journey sentiment “All you need is love” on the inside of the card from the All The Feels stamp set.

Now that the holidays are coming to an end, before you put those holiday stamps away, take a look at them & see if some of the images are suitable for everyday & other occasion cards. It’s a great way to get your stash to stretch further.

If you haven’t already, take a bit of quiet time for yourself to recharge before the New Year’s celebrations begin.

Christmas Wreath Wrap Up

Hi Angels!

I thought I’d share a post on the 6 wreaths I created for The Puppy Love craft show all in one spot. I sold 4 & kept the final 2 for me. Well the 1st one was my prototype so I often keep that one. After you’ve made several of any project, you develop a rhythm & some shortcuts to speed up the process.

Again a big thank-you to Chelsea Comer at Inky Stamper for her original design & instructions, plus permission to recreate these wreaths to benefit Puppy Love.

I used a wide variety of dies including Penny Black, Memory Box, Sizzix, Spellbinders, Fun Stampers Journey, Simon Says Stamps & probably a couple of others. Many are current product, a few are retired. Don’t forget to check & see what you already own that might produce the same results.

Custom designed burgundy, black & silver.
Red & Green #1 included champagne & gold glitter with the red & green glitter paper.
Red & Green #2 with only champagne glitter paper paired with the red & green glitter paper.
Winter wonderland became my wreath when it didn’t sell, That’s OK, it’s in my favorite colors.

My original design. As you may note it’s not as symmetrical as the others which makes it more original.
Snowman wreath #2 custom order. I used more glitter paper colors on this one.

The rosettes are so much fun to make & so versatile for a variety of projects. You may be seeing more projects in the future with them.

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Christmas Greetings

Hi Angels!

I thought I’d put a wrap on the holiday sharing the next couple of days leading up to Christmas. I created today’s card for a December swap. I love My Favorite Things Stamps or MFT for short & decided I really wanted to be an affiliate for them too so I got some new goodies in to play with recently including the BB Polar Bear Pals set.

Isn’t he cute? True to my clean & simply styling, it doesn’t always take a lot to create a fabulous card.

  • Cut a Whip Cream Card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ & fold in half. Add a Whip Cream mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ sprinkled with Sparkle Silk on card base.
  • With white glitter paper use any type of snow drift, wave, hill, etc. die to cut a snowy hill. I used MFT Whimsical Waves now retired. Adhere to mat base. (Pro-tip: just because my wave die is retired doesn’t mean you can’t duplicate my card. See what dies you might have in your own stash that could create hills. Remember to use what you have, it’s doesn’t always have to be the newest item on the market. Although new goodies are lots of fun too.)
  • Stamp & color waving bear, die cut & pop up on card.
  • Die cut sentiment of choice & adhere to card. I used Simon Says Stamps Christmas Blessings paired with MFT retired Peaceful Greetings.

All done, quick, fun & elegant.

Don’t forget to head on out to see some Christmas lights or cozy up by the fire & relax. Share the joy of the season.

8 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration – Week 8 Joy

Hi Angels!

We made it to the 8th week of Christmas Inspiration! I am already making plans for a New Year of inspiration so stay tuned. Today’s card is full of sparkle & joy. Classic white on white with just a pop of color.

Just a few simple steps & this card is ready to send.

  • Cut a Whip Cream card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut a white glitter mat 4 ” x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card base.
  • Cut a Whip Cream mat 3 3/4″ x 5″ & emboss with Darice Snowflake Scroll & attach to glitter mat. (Pro-tip: Adhering anything to glitter paper can be challenging, I switch to red-liner tape or PVA glue to attach items to glitter paper.)
  • Die cut a large snowflake & the word Joy out of blue glitter paper and a medium snowflake out of silver glitter paper. (Note: my joy die is retired, I put a similar one in the product list)
  • Layer 2 snowflakes together & attach to card. Placing a rhinestone in the center. Adhere word to card front in desired location.

That’s it, easy peasy.

Have a wonderful weekend full of holiday joy!

Elegant Sympathy

Hi Angels!

Popping in while on vacation to share a card I made for a dear friend after her brother passed. Although we never like to think of these events, it’s a reality to our lives & it helps to have a stash of beautiful cards on hand when they are needed.

This card uses the new Blooming Sprigs Cut & Emboss folder from Spellbinders. White on white is always elegant & classy. I added just a touch of color underneath the cut areas with some handmade background paper.

Basic card directions:

  • Cut a Whip Cream cardbase 4 1/4″ x 11″ & fold in half.
  • Cut a Whip Cream mat 4″ x 5 1/4″  & emboss with the cut emboss folder. (Pro-tip: Pay careful attention to the sandwich for your die cutting machine for these embossing folders. They are thicker than normal. The sandwich that worked for both my Plantinum 6 & Big Shot machines was platform, embossing folder with cardstock inside & one cutting plate.)
  • After embossing, I used scraps of handmade background & adhered small circles of color behind mat piece. Attach completed mat piece to cardbase.
  • Stamp the Sympathy verse from the Strength & Hope stamp set in Clear Pigment on Whip Cream cardstock & emboss in Silver embossing powder & die cut. Pop onto card.

Thanks for popping by to check out today’s card.  I am planning a Cut & Emboss class for January. Stay tuned for the New Year updates.

Do something this week to make a friend smile.

8 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration – Week 6 Reindeer

Hi Angels!

Wow, I have barely posted this week. So busy & add in an urgent root canal for a fractured tooth & yep the week went by fast.

We had a great time at the Angels Christmas Party, had a fabulous friends dinner, completed all the Christmas cards for the Salvation Army Angel Tree program & I completed all the orders from The Puppy Love Project Holiday Craft Fair. I only earned $55 of my $100 goal to help the rescued pups & homeless Veterans but I sent a $100 over anyway. Thank-you again for your support.

With the change over to my business, I decided in November to try the large die, small die & card kit monthly clubs at Spellbinders/FSJ. Plus I just loved the reindeer die set in the card kit. I love the dies  & decided the card kit just wasn’t for me. I will be trying our new Stamp of the Month club in January. The nice thing about the clubs is you can manage them  yourself & either skip a month if you like or cancel & change when needed.  Plus they have value packages if you’d like to subscribe to two or more clubs.  Here’s this week’s card featuring the reindeer……

Isn’t she cute? Plus the dies have the option of making either a boy or girl reindeer, and most of the time you can purchase past kits if they are still available.

Card Basics

  • Cut a card base 4 1/4″ x 11″ & fold in half
  • Attach a mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ cut from Cozy Prints for the background.
  • Cut an oval from Whip Cream cardstock & reindeer peices from various scraps in your colors of choice. I used Dark Roast, Hazelnut Blend, Oatmeal Cookie, Candy Apple, Lemongrass, Summer Days, Black Licorice & a pink from some long ago scraps that I don’t remember where I got. Our Bubblegum wasn’t light enough for this card. Pop oval up onto card.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the Sparkle Trim stamp set onto Pool Play in Huckleberry Fusion, created a banner & popped onto card.

I am working on getting links into my posts for products you might be interested in, getting back to regular posts here & on Facebook, live videos & more for the New Year. Plus I have lots of new goodies to design with!  Stay Tuned!

Do something nice for someone this week & enjoy the holiday festivities!

8 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration – Week 5 Poinsettia

Hi Angels!

It’s time for another inspiration share & a quick update on The Puppy Love Project Craft Show.

Considering I have been out of the craft show market for some time,  it was exciting to sell 6 items so far, especially since they benefit one of my favorite animal rescues. There are still several journals available & the Winter Wonderland wreath if you’d like to purchase an item & help. Check them out on my Facebook page. Thank-you for the support & encouragement in this adventure!

Today’s card is a CASE (copy & share everything) from the Spellbinders website gallery. I did not have the arched die they used, but I did have the Arched Elegance Die & the Layered Poisettia Etched Dies.

Lovely! I always like white on white and the pop of color from the poinsettia is perfect.

  • Cut a Whip Cream card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2 ” & fold in half.
  • Die cut 2 arches from Whip Cream cardstock & adhere to card.
  • Stamp Merry Christmas from Sparkle Trim set in Clear Pigment ink & emboss with Silver Embossing powder.
  • Die cut Poinsettia flower pieces from Turbo Teal, brush edges with Catalina Splash & layer onto card.
  • I did not like to big leaf in the die set for this card, so I found a smaller leaf to use on the card & die cut from Kiwi Slice & used a Stylus tip to create the leaf veins on a foam mat.
  • I used a small round paper punch to punch 3 tiny circles from Silver glitter paper for center of flower.

Elegant doesn’t have to be complicated. If you see something you like but don’t own or don’t want to purchase the needed supplies, take a look at what you do own that might give you the same type of look using the supplies you already have on hand.

Have a Wonderful Weekend as we head into December’s holiday excitement!

8 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration Week 4 ~ Sleigh Time

Hi Angels!

I am running just a wee bit behind this week. I have been working almost non-stop getting ready for Tuesday’s one day craft sale to benefit The Puppy Love Project. I have been so focused, I’ve barely come up for air, LOL!

Today’s card will make an appearance in the craft sale in a set & was designed for a class a couple of weeks back. Penny Black is one of my favorite companies & I couldn’t resist picking up the sleigh die & snowflake background the last time I was at My Heart’s Fancy in Oklahoma City. The sentiment is also Penny Black that I already had on hand in the studio.

Let’s take a look at this design.

  • Cut a card base from Blue Lagoon cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 12/” & fold in half.
  • On a white mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ stamp Snowflake Medley background using a Create-A-Palette in blues (Cool Pool, Pool Play, Beach Ball, Huckleberry & Blue Lagoon) for an ombre look. Splatter with Sparkle Silk.
  • Die cut sleigh from Pomegranate Splash & brush River Stone ink over sleigh runners. Lightly brush Sparkle Silk over whole sleigh. Then using a Clear Gelly Roll Stardust Pen draw over stitch lines in sleigh so they stand out a bit more. Pop sleigh up on bottom of card using Jouney Foam Squares.
  • Stamp sentiment onto Pool Play cardstock with Blue Lagoon ink, clean stamp & restamp in clear pigment ink & emboss using custom mix of Sparkle Dust & Clear Embossing powder.
  • Die cut sentiment with Spellbinders Astoria Labels die & pop onto card.
  • Adhere tiny rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes.

This card will be part of a snowflake set featuring a couple of the past inspiration cards available in Tuesday’s Craft Show. Please visit my Facebook page to keep up to date on the show or click on the link for The PLP Holiday Craft Show to see what all the vendors are offering during the sale on our assigned days. Hoping we raise lots of $ for the rescued/chained pups & our homeless Veterans.

Take some time to be a Blessing this week!

8 Weeks of Christmas Inspiration Week 3 Retro Snowflakes

Hi Angels!

Are you ready for turkey day this week? I hope you have an amazing holiday with family & friends!

Right after Thanksgiving we will be getting ready for Christmas. I have already seen a few decorations up around town & some have started their Christmas shopping. And then there are a few humbugs floating around too. Got to love them all.

This week’s card has a retro vibe & I used a lot of stuff from my stash. You can still be very creative with limited supplies or the supplies you already own. You don’t always have to purchase new stuff. So I hope this card inspires you to take a look at what you already may have on hand to create with.

This card is sure to bring lots of smiles! Let’s take a look at how I made it.

Card Basics:

  • Cut a card base from Turbo Teal cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ & fold in half.
  • Take a Whip Cream mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ and splatter it with Sparkle Silks. I custom mix my colors. (Pro tip – When a Sparkle Silk bottle has about a third left in the bottle is a perfect time to mix colors. Or I have even bought empty nail polish bottles on Amazon for about $1 each & mixed in them.) I used regular Sparkle Silk, Turbo Teal regular Silk mixed with Sparkle Silk, Candy Apple & Limeade Splash Liquid Colors mixed with Sparkle Silk to splatter this background. (Pro-tip – When you find a formula you like, mark the bottle top with how many drops of color you added to achieve the color you like and label the bottle with the color used.) Set aside to dry.
  • Using Panpastel Colorless Blender, brush corner for sentiment. Stamp sentiment in Limeade Splash & then again in Clear Pigment. Emboss with custom Journey Clear embossing powder mixed with Sparkle Dust. This sentiment if from Unity’s Cheerful Prancing set.
  • Die cut swoosh from Watermelon Fusion cardstock. Unfortunately the Contemporary Circle die from Spellbinders is retired but you could easily use a curvy border die & some circles to create a similar effect.
  • Die cut snowflakes in Bubble Gum, Limeade Splash & Turbo Teal. I used FSJ Snow Blooms & a tiny set I have on hand from Penny Black. Glitter snowflakes with Sparkle Dust.
  • Adhere die cuts to card.

We invest a lot into our supplies. Next time you are flipping through your dies & stamps, see what you might be able to design with them. There was an old saying in the stamp world many years ago that said before you buy a stamp set, you should see if you could create at least 3 – 5 different projects with it to make it worth the cost of getting the stamp set. See if you can look at your stash with  a fresh view point & then have fun creating!

Find some time to be creative this week, art really is the best therapy.  It brings joy to you and the one you are creating for.
