Tonight’s class was the final installment of our 12 x 12 Seasons Samplers – Sweet Summer. I had so much fun designing this.
I started off with another idea with the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On & while looking for some other dies came across the Elizabeth Craft Designs Lake Scene Die set. The other dies are older Spellbinders sets & the sentiments are also Elizabeth Craft Designs. What says summer better than days at the lake, birds singing & a gazebo to hang out with the family.
All the pieces feature ink blending with Distress Oxides. The main pieces include Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet & Seedless Preserve. The accent pieces have Fossilized Amber, Abandoned Coral & Seedless Preserves.
I have a quiet week ahead so that means more studio time, Yay!
By the time this posts, we should be halfway to South Dakota. I am scheduling ahead of time so we can enjoy our trip.
Today’s card uses a some flowers from the infamous Bits & Pieces box.
This card is just perfect to pop in the mail to brighten someone’s day. I used Spellbinders Simple Line Border stamp and Penny Black Happy Thoughts for the sentiment.
The final card from our last holiday class of the year features the buffalo plaid snowman I used on my card candy a few weeks ago. The pattern from the plaid just makes him a happy snowman.
Isn’t he a dapper fellow? I used a variety of dies for this card. The snowman is from Spellbinders.
I fought the Oklahoma winds today to get a picture of Monday’s class. Duct tape helps.
I designed the winter themed 12 x 12 collage for our frames. I started with one idea & it turned into another.
I love how it came out.
It’s mainly a variety of die cuts from a variety of companies and some ink blending and lots of Stickles. I know the snowflake corners are hard to see in this picture but the lettering & these are in white glitter paper. There’s definitely sparkle.
Look for posts every few days for the next couple of weeks. I am working hard to get our next batches of charity cards completed. I do plan to squeak in a wee bit of creating but it’s crunch time.
I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far. I am having fun working on my Wild & Wonderful Summer projects. A lot of going with the flow creating happening here.
I decided to pop in & share the final card from the Tonic Studios Kit 21 class this week. I decided to mix up my class a bit and add in other stamps & products this time. I have been getting the kits because A. they are a fabulous value and B. so I am familiar with the Tonic Studios & Nuvo products. When you have done direct sales for over 10 years representing certain products, it’s time to play and learn what wonderful things are available when you go independent. That includes mixing companies & products into the creative process.
This card has a mixture of elements on it. Let’s take a look.
Card Basics:
Cut a card base from Catalina Splash 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Cut a Turbo Teal layer 4″ x 5 1/2″
Cut a Lemon Drop Layer 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″
On the Lemon Drop Layer I used the Distress Stencil in the kit and the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse that was included to add the hearts.
After the hearts were dry, it needed a bit more interest so I took my Romantic Script background stamp from My Favorite Things and stamped it over the Lemon Drop Layer in Lemon Drop ink.
Cut Spellbinders Shapeabilities Live Laugh Love dies out of scraps of Cool Pool, Turbo Teal & Catalina Splash and adhered to the card.
I used Nuvo Glitter Gloss to highlight everything with a bit of sparkle.
Take a look at the products you have on hand & see how you can mix them up while you are creating.
I have a National Craft Month Challenge to myself to post everyday in March. Some of those postings will be on Facebook, some here on the blog & there will be a live video or two also.
Working my way back into sharing now that I am more recovered from surgery. What was a simple surgery to open up my airways, turned a bit more complicated when a mass was found to be blocking the airways (benign, thank-you Lord!), and then finding out this week that the reason it’s taking so long to heal is apparently I had an anesthesiologist who decided to tear up the roof of my mouth suctioning during surgery. Eating & swallowing has been most difficult to say the least. Thankful to finally be on the mend, understand why, blessed the mass wasn’t serious & working my way to purge the studio more, organize & play with lots of crafty new goodies!
Let’s take a look at today’s card. One of my favorites from our birthday class but was a bit tricky to fussy cut as I decided not to purchase the die when I got it. If you like it, purchase the die, LOL!
This a Pinterest case modified of course because I can. We also created a small set of these for the troops.
Card Basics:
Cut a card base from Grape Fusion cardstock 4 1/4″ x 11″ and fold in half.
Cut a mat out of Whip Cream cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″. Stamp with the Border Line stamp from Spellbinders in Black Licorice.
Stamp My Favorite Things Beautiful Bloom onto Grape Fusion cardstock with clear pigment ink & gold emboss. Die or fussy cut out and trim in half down the middle. Adhere to card as shown.
Stamp sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles & Smiles set in Grape Fusion in card center, clean stamp & restamp in clear pigment ink & emboss with custom clear embossing & Sparkle Dust mixture.
The Events page has been updated with the March classes, take a peek & join us in studio for some creativity.
I hope this month’s shares will inspire your creativity during National Craft Month.
Recently I held a foiling class using the Spellbinders Glimmer Machine. After class I needed to make my dear friend Margaret a birthday card, so since the machine was out I did a “Happy Birthday” sentiment. After I designed the card, I liked it so much, that I decided to make it our club card too for this week except I changed it from pink & red to red & silver.
Margaret loves red & this came out so elegant.
The club version is even more classy.
These cards are so beautiful & easy to make.
Cut a Cranberry Bliss card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half.
Take a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Black Licorice cardstock mat & die cut with the FSJ Artful Burst die and adhere to card base. (Pro tip: cut your cardbase & decorative mat while waiting for the Glimmer machine to heat up.)
I used the Happy Birthday from Becca Feeken’s Elegant Occasion Sentiments Hot Foil Plates to create the foiled sentiment. I like this set because it has matching outline dies to cut the sentiment out when done. The Glimmer machine is very easy to use.
Pop sentiment up on card with foam squares & add rhinestone accents.
Thanks for stopping by. More shares coming soon. I am working harder to make my art & posting a priority with this year’s schedule.
I hope you have had time to catch your breath from all the holiday bustle & perhaps spend some time playing with new art goodies.
Today’s share is the anniversary card I made for my oldest daughter & son-in-law for their 17th wedding anniversary. I used the new Penny Black Nose to Nose stamp I picked up in Branson.
Originally released for the holidays, I think this stamp makes a great anniversary, love or Valentine card too. Let’s take a look at the basics.
Cut a card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ from Cranberry Bliss cardstock & fold in half.
Cut a mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ from Brushed Silver & emboss with Darice Tribal Background embossing folder. Attach to card.
Stamp bears in Riverstone ink onto Whip Cream cardstock & color with your choice of colors. (Pro-tip – a gray or brown ink softens a stamped image.)
I used Spellbinders A2 Curved Matting Basics set B to trim image & cut a matching Cranberry Bliss mat. Adhere both layers together & pop onto card.
Since the sentiment distracted from the image on front, I stamped the new Fun Stampers Journey sentiment “All you need is love” on the inside of the card from the All The Feels stamp set.
Now that the holidays are coming to an end, before you put those holiday stamps away, take a look at them & see if some of the images are suitable for everyday & other occasion cards. It’s a great way to get your stash to stretch further.
If you haven’t already, take a bit of quiet time for yourself to recharge before the New Year’s celebrations begin.
I thought I’d share a post on the 6 wreaths I created for The Puppy Love craft show all in one spot. I sold 4 & kept the final 2 for me. Well the 1st one was my prototype so I often keep that one. After you’ve made several of any project, you develop a rhythm & some shortcuts to speed up the process.
Again a big thank-you to Chelsea Comer at Inky Stamper for her original design & instructions, plus permission to recreate these wreaths to benefit Puppy Love.
I used a wide variety of dies including Penny Black, Memory Box, Sizzix, Spellbinders, Fun Stampers Journey, Simon Says Stamps & probably a couple of others. Many are current product, a few are retired. Don’t forget to check & see what you already own that might produce the same results.
Custom designed burgundy, black & silver.
Red & Green #1 included champagne & gold glitter with the red & green glitter paper.
Red & Green #2 with only champagne glitter paper paired with the red & green glitter paper.
Winter wonderland became my wreath when it didn’t sell, That’s OK, it’s in my favorite colors.
My original design. As you may note it’s not as symmetrical as the others which makes it more original.
Snowman wreath #2 custom order. I used more glitter paper colors on this one.
The rosettes are so much fun to make & so versatile for a variety of projects. You may be seeing more projects in the future with them.
I thought I’d put a wrap on the holiday sharing the next couple of days leading up to Christmas. I created today’s card for a December swap. I love My Favorite Things Stamps or MFT for short & decided I really wanted to be an affiliate for them too so I got some new goodies in to play with recently including the BB Polar Bear Pals set.
Isn’t he cute? True to my clean & simply styling, it doesn’t always take a lot to create a fabulous card.
Cut a Whip Cream Card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ & fold in half. Add a Whip Cream mat 4″ x 5 1/4″ sprinkled with Sparkle Silk on card base.
With white glitter paper use any type of snow drift, wave, hill, etc. die to cut a snowy hill. I used MFT Whimsical Waves now retired. Adhere to mat base. (Pro-tip: just because my wave die is retired doesn’t mean you can’t duplicate my card. See what dies you might have in your own stash that could create hills. Remember to use what you have, it’s doesn’t always have to be the newest item on the market. Although new goodies are lots of fun too.)
Stamp & color waving bear, die cut & pop up on card.
Die cut sentiment of choice & adhere to card. I used Simon Says Stamps Christmas Blessings paired with MFT retired Peaceful Greetings.
All done, quick, fun & elegant.
Don’t forget to head on out to see some Christmas lights or cozy up by the fire & relax. Share the joy of the season.
