I had to have fun with today’s usual Star Wars Theme and Kindred Stamps Chickie Nuggies is my only theme related stamp.
So fun! I purposely made this one wonky. I colored baby Yoda with Prismacolor Pencils and used a sentiment from an old FSJ set. I have to tell you if you don’t have the Subtle 3D embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!, you should get one. It created amazing texture for the “planet” behind baby Yoda. So cool.
I had hope to post closer to dinner time but had to go rescue hubby’s car from the shop and then started to develop my 2nd migraine of the week. Thankful I had most of this card complete. I’m off to get some rest.
Today I am sharing my oldest daughter’s birthday card. Our ages are easy to keep track of as she just celebrated her 40th birthday and mom is celebrating 60. We celebrate our special days just about a month apart.
This came out so lovely. I used Pinkfresh Studio Joyful Peonies stamp, die & layering stencils for the beautiful floral focal point and their Essentials Classic Words die for the sentiment. The handcolored background is embossed with Memory Box Chrysanthemum Field 3-D Embossing Folder. The sequins are from the Catherine Pooler Design Williamsburg mix.
This card gave me just a wee bit of trouble as the original idea I had just wasn’t working with the pretty flowers so I may have created some extras for the infamous Bits & Pieces box. Nothing wrong with a little trial & error to achieve a pretty card, so don’t become discouraged with a project. Sometimes it’s as simple as walking away for a bit & coming back with a fresh set of eyes.
Don’t forget to comment for a chance at the prize package. I think I’ll do a mixture of products from a couple of my favorite companies.
I managed to get a bit of unpacking from retreat done today, despite severe allergies. I hope to have the studio back in order by this weekend.
If you haven’t seen Unity Stamp Company’s Layering Tulips set yet, I’d be surprised since beautiful samples are popping up all over the internet. I believe it’s their very first layering stencil & stamp set & it is wonderful & easy to use.
I opted for my favorite color combo of purple & green for this card. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Sympathy stamp.
I know it’s been a few days. I didn’t expect when I moved my desk how much got displaced & needed reorganized. Then add in it’s my worst allergy time & well….
I listened to another video from the Shine Retreat a couple of nights ago and recreated this page based on John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The page is water colored in Twinkling H2O’s and edged with Black Soot Distress Ink to represent the darkness. I stamped the lantern on a scrap of watercolored background and colored with glitter gel pens. I used 5 different Sweet ‘n Sassy stamp sets to stamp my saying & the lantern. I used Shine Your Light, Way Maker, Fall in Love with Jesus, Teeny Alpha and Sweet & Simple Alpha.
It was wonderful to spend a few minutes creating today.
Yesterday was hubby’s birthday, so we actually went to town Friday all day for some shopping & dinner. So yesterday we moved my desk into the studio & I now some more re-organizing to do. Thus no art posts for 2 days.
Today I finished the 2 cards I started for our granddaughters for Easter. They have foiled backgrounds which were hard to capture but came out cute.
I used Therm-o-web’s egg toner card fronts in purple & rainbow and added My Favorite Things Wish You Were Here and the sentiment is from Sweet ‘n Sassy Hoppy Spring.
We enjoyed the day with our daughter, son-in-law & granddaughters including an egg hunt in the front yard, some legos from grammy & papa & dinner.
They were really happy to find chocolate in their eggs.
I worked on my Bible Journaling projects a bit today but a migraine claimed the day so I made this card this evening to post.
I used Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Hoppy Spring stamp set.
So cute! I used one of my handcolored backgrounds and colored the images with complimentary colors. The bunny was stamped on white & after coloring popped since I didn’t want a pink/orange/yellow bunny. Those little birdies are adorable. Critters can be adapted to anytime of the year so I made the sentiment suitable for any occasion.
We have finally made it to the final pictures for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Cardmaking Event from last weekend.
Photoplay designed an exclusive flower set for the event and I made these pretty floral cards.
We added swashes of watercolor to some watercolor paper & diecut several flowers from the colors we chose. I also die cut flowers out of patterned & solid cardstock scraps and added stamped centers & words. Since I had several extra watercolor flowers, I opted to make my last card with them instead of stamping a background. I think the black & white polka dots sets them off nicely.
All the classes were so much fun and I can’t wait for the October event.
In the end I created 40 cards from the kits & sponsor products. Here’s a look at all of them together.
These cards are sure to bring lots of smiles when I send them out.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. We are enjoying an evening with our granddaughters.
I had a quick mini class today recreating the bunny card from a week or so ago. Lots of fun visiting.
Hero Arts taught us a class on Sunday with the Color Layering Hummingbird set & their Reactive Ink.
They all came out so different & beautiful. The first card we did a “batik” to the background, very easy. The second card we just did a direct to paper background and the final card is a watercolor wash after smooshing the ink on some acetate. The bird & flower on the final card are watercolored with the ink too. Inks that work in a variety of ways keep creating interesting.
One more class to share from last weekend’s event.
