It’s another quick card from the infamous Bits & Pieces box. I did complete 2 other cards today & did a mock-up for a technique but I’ll be sharing those later.
Another background pulled from my stash. This one was part of a background technique swap many years ago.
Everything but the cardbase and sequins came from the scraps or the Bits & Pieces box. I just die cut the background & mat with Gina K. Designs Master Layouts 2 die set & fussy cut the stamped sentiment I found in the Bits & Pieces. The background wasn’t labeled but looks like a batik resist type of technique, very pretty.
I made a dent in some more organizing & purging today and got a card design laid out for a couple of cards.
Since I didn’t create a lot today, I dove into the infamous Bits & Pieces box & came up with an extra blended background from a previous project and created this card.
I love how it turned out. I used Gina K. Designs Natural and Summer Silhouette stamp sets. A little bit of stamping and instant card.
My day was really off balance today, however I was able to do a quick Bible Journaling page & finish my Just January Journal.
I recently order two A5 kraft paper travelers notebooks. I have seen a couple of creators using kraft paper to create on & I haven’t done that in awhile so….. I also thought it would give me a smaller space to do some quick Bible Journaling & feature my Creative Retreat Kits.
Today’s featured verse is:
I pray that from His glorious riches He would grant you to be strengthened in your inner being with the power through His Ruach, so that Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to grasp with all the kedoshim what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Messiah which surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled up with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19 TLV
I masked the center with a heart mask and stenciled over it with a leaf stencil in Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide and traced around the mask with a Micron. I bordered the page with the beautiful washi that came in this months kit and placed 2 of the stickers on a scrap of purple cardstock & fussy cut around them so they popped off the page more. I used Gina K. Designs Love die cut in gold for the center & stamped the “in” from the kit with Villainous Potion. I taped 2 of the pages together to create a side pocket and added the scripture verse to a file card. I used another sticker & the digital printables to create the tab & stamped the leaves to border the verse. A lot of steps but fairly quick to make.
Our winter warning has been extended through Thursday morning so hopefully I can actually do some sorting & more creating tomorrow, since today was a bit of a bust.
We had a bit of warm today and now we start to polar plunge towards our next winter weather event. I did get out & get some sunshine today. I hope you had some sunshine to enjoy where you live.
It’s always fun when a company adds a little thank-you to an order. Even a sweet note is a blessing. I recently ordered for the 1st time from Trinity Stamps after using their products in a couple of different events and they included a small stencil as a thank-you.
I used the Love Balloons to create this card.
Now if you know me, I rarely make Valentines, I usually make love cards that can be used for a variety of occasions and today’s creation can easily be used for anything. I ink blended with Candy Apple, Kitsch Flamingo and Wilted Violet Distress Oxides, added some white gel pen highlights and hand drawn strings & bows. I used Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Bitty Hearts stencil & Gina K. Designs A Little Love for the sentiment. Since I couldn’t trim the card down to add a mat, I outlined the edges with a black Sharpie & a ruler so it popped just a bit more.
If you are expecting winter weather too, please stay safe and warm.
I still have a few cards to share from last weekend’s event but I officially completed them all today. Yay!
I just love how these butterfly cards turned out using Gina K Designs Never Lose Hope stamp set.
I love the bright hues of the card on the left and the softness of the card on the right, which I entirely changed the color scheme on. Fairly easy with color blending, however, the card on the right has a resist effect with white colored pencil on the butterflies that adds a beautiful highlight effect.
We have snow coming in so hopefully after a couple of short errands tomorrow, I’ll have lots of creating time in the studio this week.
I hope your week is off to a great start. Some of the Angels came over for a get-together, we visited & did some creating. Time with friends makes a perfect start to the week.
We always need birthday cards and the weekend’s event provided a few to choose from including these 2 made with Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons set & Gina K Designs Layered Confetti stencils.
Jenn Shurkus enjoys mixing & matching products from different companies during this retreat. Mixing up your supplies expands your creative options & gets you thinking outside of the box.
These were lots of fun to color & create. The blue & green card was straight up coloring & stenciling. The multi-color balloons included some Stickles Glitter Gel through the stencil for shimmer & texture. It’s really easy to take a simple design like this & dress it up or down.
It’s been a minute. It’s been a very busy week and I really missed creating this past week but I did get some organizing & purging done.
This weekend is my very first event for the year. The Creative Journey Art Retreat with Jenn Shurkus. I’ve been doing a lot of coloring today but did finish up this card.
This card came out so cute. We used Trinity Stamps Hometown Parade stamp set along with Gina K Designs Layering Confetti stencil set. I modified mine a bit so you could see a bit more of the patterned paper.
Thanks to this weekend I should have a small stash of cards to post this next week. I kept planning to work on my creative projects last week but by the time I was done with appointments & errands I was just too tired to put in a good effort. I did manage a few minutes a day sorting & purging & cleaned up my worktops for this weekends events.
I hope you are enjoying the weekend and have a bit of sunshine to bask in.
Are you ready for Christmas? It’s just a couple days away now.
Designing with mirrored cardstock gives cards an elegant look and I love how these 2 turned out.
The card on the left uses Concord & 9th’s Nordic Noel and Stitched Vines dies. The card on the right is a case of a Gina K Designs project and uses Gina K’s Holiday Toppers dies.
If you are in the freezing area, please stay safe & warm the next couple of days.
I did not get all of October’s Crop & Create classes done but I did a few. One of my favorite classes is Gina K Designs and this year was no exception.
You’ve probably seen these around the internet already and although exclusive at the time of Crop & Create, the Holiday Silhouettes stamp set & the Graceful Snowflake stencil are now available to everyone. I only have a couple of Gina K inks so I am usually blending with Distress Oxides.
Our youngest daughter & her hubby celebrated their 8th anniversary last month and this was their card.
I have watercolored on black cardstock before but this was the first time I had used black watercolor paper. I used Kuretake Gansai Tanbi Gem Watercolors for this project inspired by a card on Prairie Paper & Ink’s Youtube channel. I used Gina K Designs Spring Bouquets stamp set & the sentiment is an older wooden stamp in my stash.
Today was fairly quiet after yesterday’s trip to see the Route 66 Christmas Chute in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. It’s the first year for this display & it was wonderful. I just love visiting lights & displays this time of year.
