Gloriously 60 Day 49 Art – Joyful Smile

Hi Angels!

After 2 days of outside heat, I puttered around the house today. I assigned myself a new weekly task of cleaning off my workspaces in the studio. I got my standing work surfaces cleaned up and finished organizing my slimline dies today. I just need to get my sitting desk area cleaned up tomorrow & I should be in pretty good shape for creating for the next week. Yay!

I dug into my new June SCT Sampler for a fun card tonight. The Sampler contained Doodlebug’s Fairy Garden Collection paper & bits so I created this card.

Doodlebug designs are always whimsical & sure to bring a smile. I have a friend who sends cards to a children’s hospital project and I’m pretty sure she’ll be getting some cards from my designs with this sampler. Too cute!

I did get another design project started to finish tomorrow. A little more on the elegant side. I love the freedom to mix up styles when creating.

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

Gloriously 60 Day 48 – Every Day is a Gift

Hi Angels!

Well I spent a 2nd day out in the heat mowing the lawn for a little over an hour. Whew! I had a slow lazy day after that.

After seeing the new Catherine Pooler Designs Butterfly in Bloom done by one of the design team members on black with metallic watercolor, I wanted to try. So I heat embossed it & painted while watching a movie.

So pretty. The sentiment is from Catherine Pooler Designs One Liners Set. I’ll need to practice a bit more as some colors show up better than others on the black & not always the ones you think will.

Have a Terrific Friday!

Gloriously 60 Day 47 Art – Grow With Love

Hi Angels!

Today was my errand day out in the heat & I came home with a migraine. I tried to get as much done as possible before the high heat of the day but I was still out too long.

I didn’t want to fuss with a lot of coloring etc tonight so I pulled some pre-done background paper to design this card.

I love the tone on tone with a pop of blue. I used Catherine Pooler Designs Beautiful Beginning, Love Grows Here & Flourishes Background stamp sets & dies. The background is the shaving cream technique I did ages ago.

If it’s this hot this early in the year, we may be in for an intense summer. Could be a good thing. I can hide out in the studio & organize & play.

Gloriously 60 Day 46 – Beautiful Sunshine

Hi Angels!

I got a bit of organizing done in the studio today putting some more of my dies in order for easy access.

My June Scrapbook & Cards Today Sampler arrived a few days ago. First it’s fabulous and second I really enjoyed creating tonight’s card.

This soft “sunrise/sunset” has a beachy feel to it. I can just see the surfers & boats enjoying some rays.

The sampler included Hero Arts Butterfly Circle Stencil. I used Squeezed Lemonade, Kitsch Flamingo & Shaded Lilac Distress Oxides. Instead of going for a full shadow for the lettering, I opted to stack the sentiments onto a black layer instead of a white layer so they stood out a bit more.

I hope there’s some sunshine in your week. Thanks for stopping by.

Gloriously 60 Day 45 Art – Sweet Summer

Hi Angels!

Tonight’s class was the final installment of our 12 x 12 Seasons Samplers – Sweet Summer. I had so much fun designing this.

I started off with another idea with the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On & while looking for some other dies came across the Elizabeth Craft Designs Lake Scene Die set. The other dies are older Spellbinders sets & the sentiments are also Elizabeth Craft Designs. What says summer better than days at the lake, birds singing & a gazebo to hang out with the family.

All the pieces feature ink blending with Distress Oxides. The main pieces include Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet & Seedless Preserve. The accent pieces have Fossilized Amber, Abandoned Coral & Seedless Preserves.

I have a quiet week ahead so that means more studio time, Yay!

Gloriously 60 Day 44 – Birdhouse Hello

Hi Angels!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!

I am putting the finishing touches on tomorrow’s class and grabbed what I had on my worktop to make tonight’s card.

This card definitely has a mixed media feel with the watercolor mop up piece I used for the birdhouse & bird plus the reverse print of the polka dot stencil background I used to create the main polka dot pattern. I used Lawn Fawn’s Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-on to create this card.

Have a Fabulous Week!

Gloriously 60 Day 43 Art – Sweet Flowers

Hi Angels!

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weekend! We had lovely sunshine after a quick storm rolled through in the wee hours of the morning.

Today’s card features some leftovers from my desk before they reached the infamous Bits & Pieces box.

I’m in the process of cleaning up my worktops so it made sense to create some from the bits of recent cards & a scrap from the patterned paper file.

This card is sweet & simple & will make someone smile. The best kind of card to make.

Gloriously 60 Day 42 Art – Adventure

Hi Angels!

It’s been a long but fun day as I had the granddaughters today. So I dove into the infamous Bits & Pieces box & the scraps for tonight’s card.

This neutral design is great for the guys. The train was leftover from a class last year using Whimsy Stamps Enjoy the Journey set & the sentiment if from Unity Stamp Co Scout Adventure set.

Off to get some rest.

Have a Fabulous Saturday!

Gloriously 60 Day 41 Art – Soar

Hi Angels!

I am not so tired today, did a bit of a reset of my plans since it’s mid-year, tidied up the studio some and will work on getting my schedule back in shape. Sometimes you just need a little bit of reflection time.

Today’s card is also made with scraps but unlike last night’s ‘eh’ this one is ‘wow’.

I popped into HL yesterday to pick up a couple of things for the granddaughters & did pop by the paper craft section which they were doing a complete redo on. I’ve got a couple of ideas I’ve been mulling around & decided to pick up the bird & branch set from Momenta. Sorry they just have a number no name. The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Some rest & a fresh perspective definitely make a difference.

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

Gloriously 60 Day 40 Art – Hello Sunshine

Hi Angels!

Good news, my album is ready to decorate after class tonight the ‘eh’ news is my card is just so-so. I was playing with a new die & some scraps.

I was looking for a particular doily die & picked up a couple of more in the process. The one on tonight’s card is from the Scrap Man & is called Ethno Doily 2. It’s really pretty.

So after years & years of creating every once in a while I make a card and go “that’s okay but” and that’s perfectly fine. I still like the card, I’ll still send it to make someone happy. You don’t have to be top of your game all the time when you create.

I’m a bit tired & on creative overload after concentrating on the album class. I create because it’s just part of what makes me, me. And of course I needed something to post for my challenge today.

I literally was just trying a bit & that for this card design. I wanted a more classic darker blue for the red polka dots but it just really dragged the card down. Then the brighter blue was too plain. I added ink dots & it helps. If I really thought the card was awful it would have hit the trash.

Another lesson, you don’t have to try to salvage or live with something. Most paper only costs a few cents and except for the cardbase this card was made with all scraps from other projects. Practice & play does not always lead to a great creation but it’s very necessary to get to that great creation. So tonight was more of a play date, working out an idea & it’s just okay but not over the top.

I think a good night’s rest in is order & tomorrow I can come play in the studio refreshed & ready to design for my next class & decorate my album.

Play, Practice, Stumble a bit, Soar even more, Create & Inspire!
