Autumn Abstract

Hi Angels!

I worked on 5 different projects today and completed 4, whew! Some were as simple as printing some Bible Journaling printables but still did quite a bit in the studio.

Since I have been sorting & organizing, I’m trying to make it a point to work with some of my newer supplies & some of my older supplies. I had not had a chance to play with my Taylored Expressions In The Abstract kit so here’s my first card design.

Usually I don’t create a lot of fall themed items but this year may be the exception. The kit’s main item is the Abstract Accents Stencil & Stamp Combo. I used Candy Apple, Ripe Persimmon & Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides for the background stencil shapes. Stamped a couple of elements from the coordinating stamp set and added a sentiment from the Beautiful Soul stamp set. I used the Branch Out dies set for the leaves.

Speaking of fall, the cooler temperatures today certainly hint at fall & are a welcome relief from the recent heat wave.

Share a little joy and make someone smile tomorrow!

Compassionate Heart

Hi Angels!

I managed to get my extra scheduled cleaning done today & do some creating.

My Bible study this morning was a great reminder of how even in the chaos of this current world, showing love & compassion to everyone is still the most important thing for us to do. Kindness is not very prominent and there is an awful lot of animosity going around. Perhaps instead of pushing agendas, a little bit of grace & kindness can be extended. A little bit of kindness & compassion can make a big difference in someone’s day.

I created this Faithdex card as a reminder that love makes all the difference.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience; Colossians 3:12 ESV

I used Catherine Pooler Designs Amber’s World for the globe and Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Genuine Love for the tiny love sentiment. I found some framed index dies on Amazon & I tried to do some research to make sure they were not knock-offs, it’s still possible but I didn’t find anything before I ordered them & opted to use the heart frame to fit my theme. I used gel pens to color and hand lettered the verse.

Spread some kindness & joy tomorrow. Have a great day!

Hopping By

Hi Angels!

It has been so nice to have a media break for the past couple of weeks. If you haven’t taken one in awhile, you might consider it.

We had so much fun on retreat last week at The Scrappin’ Pad. A whole week to play, create, chill, lots of laughter & fun.

The Scrappin’ Pad has a bit of a frog theme and a frog named Finnegan for it’s mascot. So I brought along a frog stamp set to create a card for our hostess, Liz.

Isn’t he fun! I took this pic at the Pad on the dining room table.

I pulled out one of my marbled backgrounds and colored the frog with colored pencils. I used an old FSJ set Stick Around, Gina K’s A Little Hello and Sweet ‘n Sassy Hoppy Spring.

I will be back to posting a bit more regular now that I’ve had a nice break. I have more creative ideas to work on and a bit more organizing planned.

Thanks for stopping by.

Bits & Pieces Blitz

Hi Angels!

I know, I’ve been missing in action. There hasn’t been a whole lot of creating going on here but there has been a lot of sorting & organizing. I worked on nineteen 12 x 12 cases last week and I cleaned off my 3 main worktops so I actually can create a little easier while in the midst of some major sorting.

I unearthed a bunch of bits & pieces while sorting including a few I received in Happy Mail cards. So I grabbed my background box tonight & in about 40 minutes created 6 cards that I can send for Happy Mail.

Some pretty backgrounds and a handful of diecuts is certainly an easy way to create some fun. These are sure to brighten up someone’s day.

With the artic blast coming in this week be sure to stay safe & warm.

Have a Terrific Week!

You Will Rise Above

Hi Angels!

I have slowly been curbing my spending however I am still celebrating my birthday all year so I splurged a little and got this fabulous die from the Crafty Meraki. Plus I do enjoy supporting small businesses and American made.

If you know me well, butterflies have been my symbol all my life so naturally I like the more unique things and this die is definitely unique. The background is hand dyed paper I made quite awhile back. I am thinking a hand dyed paper session is in order again this year. The sentiments are from Sweet ‘n Sassy God is Bigger stamp set.

This is another great encouragement card for someone who needs a little light and encouragement. Keep seeking those who could use a little joy and hope in their lives and do a little something special for them.

Thanks for popping in!

Prayers & Peonies

Hi Angels!

Wednesday may become my new favorite day of the week around here. I scheduled it for working on classes but I think it’s been a good day just to chill & puddle around the house doing whatever.

After doing some prep work for another project, I decided to try out my shimmering watercolors on black cardstock.

Not bad for a first try, the shimmer is really pretty against the black. I may switch shimmering colors next time to a different brand. I used Sweet ‘n Sassy Encouraging Peonies with My Favorite Things Words of Inspiration (retired).

I know on my friends list & art groups there are quite a few people asking for prayers for various life events. Don’t forget to make yourself a note to pray for those you know & perhaps you can make a card of encouragement to send to them too. It may just bring the smile they need during a difficult time.

Thanks for stopping by.

Incredible Slimline

Hi Angels!

I have been enjoying the late evening quiet the past couple of nights creating. I really should go to bed earlier but when you are creating time kind of fades away.

Tonight I opted for a slimline card. I haven’t made one in a bit. I used Sweet ‘n Sassy My Thoughts of You and In This Together sets.

This card makes a fabulous encouragement card! I used shimmering watercolors and tried WOW Disco Ball Embossing Glitter for Catherine Pooler Designs on the sentiment. The sparkle is fabulous.

Who do you know who could use a bit of extra encouragement this week? Do something special for someone who maybe doesn’t get recognized or chooses not to be recognized for something they do.

Thanks for stopping by.

Shine Bright

Hi Angels!

I’ve been puttering around this evening working on a couple of projects.

Tonight’s card was made with the bonus stamp Shine Your Light included in my Club Sursee this month from Catherine Pooler Designs.

I used watercolor pencils on Bristol paper and added some Sparkle Silk.

The world needs a whole lot of light right now with the continued virus issues & general unrest. Kindness & love should be our golden rule.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Share a smile with someone this week.

Wildflower Sunset

Hi Angels!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful Saturday. I got some organizing done, always a good thing & I handed off a couple of new home baskets to Feed His Sheep. One of the sheep got their new apartment yesterday & are no longer on the streets.

I have been playing with the Taylored Expressions Field Note kit. I’m glad I decided to get one because the exclusive kit is sold out.

I’ve been eyeing distress ink blends on Pinterest again and a sunset one caught my eye so I used it to create this card using the Frayed Edge masking stencils. It came out beautifully.

I chose the Indian Paintbrush flower from the Sketchbook Florals set, at least I think that’s what it is. I love flowers but am far from an expert. No green thumb here. I colored it in rich colors so it would stand out against the background. The sentiment if from the Field Notes stamp set.

I’m off to get some rest. Heading off to church in the morning & then visiting with our granddaughters in the afternoon.

Have a Blessed Sunday!

Troop Work & Hugs

Hi Angels!

It has been a very long day. The Angels & I worked many hours processing almost 1150 troop cards. I put in 9.5 hours myself. Whew!

Here is a look at both sides of the table after all our hard work. This is only part of what we got done. I got this packed into boxes ready for the holiday shipment coming up.

Despite the many hours of work, I decided to create a quick 10 minute card. I pulled a couple of die cuts off my work top. The “Hugs” is from My Favorite Things and the flower from happy mail. I picked out a background I had embossed awhile ago, added a card base & fast card.

All the Angels deserve a huge hug for all their help today! Many thanks! This is our favorite kindness project, providing cards for the troops to send home.

Time for some sleep.
