Dwelling Place – Bible Journaling

Hi Friends!

Happy Friday!

I’m still busy sorting & purging the studio and in between I’ve been watching the His Palette 30 days of Bible Journaling videos for Kimberly’s 5-3-50 celebration.

Today’s page features Psalm 84:1-4

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise! ESV

This is the first page in my new Scripture Journal of the Psalms, which has a blank page opposite every scripture page. I used Distress Oxides, stencils, The Road to Emmaus stamp set from Open Journey and His Palette Near Your Altar printable and a Posca White pen.

I have really been enjoying Bible journaling and as soon as the studio is a bit more orderly, (we are talking major purging & sorting at the moment), I’ll make some more cards.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Blessings!

He is Risen Indeed!

Hi Friends!

I hope your Easter Sunday was full of family, friends & blessings as we celebrate our risen Lord.

I did a quick mixed media piece to celebrate today.

The complete verse from Luke 24:34 reads:

saying, “The Lord is risen indeed! He has appeared to Simon!”

I used the Walking Holy Week with Jesus Open Journey printable, watercolor, Distress Oxides, Gina K. Glitz Glitter Gel with a Tim Holtz stencil & handwriting on a hand colored background piece.

Enjoy a wonderful spring week ahead. Celebrate each day with love, joy & kindness.

Blessings!

Father Who Sees Lent Journal

Hi Friends!

I have been keeping up with my 40 days of Lent studies but I think I’ll be working on the journaling for awhile. I don’t want to rush the creation of each day’s subject so I’ll work on it throughout the year.

My 2nd page is from Matthew 6 verses 3, 4 & 6 Our study session covered Matthew 6:1-6 & 16-18, all filled with great insight into how we should walk.

But when you do tzedakah, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your tzedakah may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, shall reward you. Matthew 6:3-4 TLV

But you, when you pray, go into your inner room; and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you. Matthew 6:6 TLV

Tzedakah often referred to as charity, but the literal translation is “justice” or “righteousness”. Sharing what we have with others isn’t something special. It’s the honest and just thing to do.

Kindness shared everyday should be a way of life and a natural thing to do in our walk with God.

I purchased this door die from Nellie Snellen thinking it would be great for mini books/journals and it found it’s first use here on this page to represent “your inner room”. I also used watercolors, stencils, stamps and elements from the Come with me 2 kit from Open Journey.

Blessings!

Palm Sunday Bible Journaling

Hi Friends!

Life has been a bit busy and allergy season is still in full force but I have lots & lots to post & share.

For Holy Week this week I’ll be sharing some of my recent Bible Journaling creations starting with this quick page I did late last night. Ingrid from Open Journey did a live for Palm Sunday and I played along.

The focal verse is Luke 19:38 “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” NIV

I did a quick background with Distress Oxides with some gold splatters. The palm branches are from the Open Journey digitals Walking Holy Week With Jesus and a free printable King of My Heart she sent to her newsletter subscribers. I also used Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Fern Fronds stencil on the background.

I hope you enjoy a blessed week ahead.

Blessings!

Return To Me Lent Journal

Hi Friends!

I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Last week was so unusually busy for me, plus dealing with allergies & asthma, that it took me awhile to complete my first journal entry for my Lent studies. I have made it the highest priority to do the study part each day but when you are out & about, it doesn’t leave much time for creating. Add to the fun, I’m doing 2 Lent studies. I’ll be digging into God’s Word a lot the next few weeks.

Return to me is based on Joel 2:12-13. In Hebrew teshuvah means “to turn back toward”, “repent”, “return to me”.

I created a watercolor wash background over my page, pulled some elements from my Open Journey Come With Me 2 kit, created a pocket with the main image, added the focal verse with the basic Hebrew definition & added the title. I then made a tag booklet insert & added some thoughts from Ingrid’s post & my own study to make it more personal.

I’m having a blast digging into some of my handmade papers, fibers, ribbons, stamps & more to create more interest & texture. It’s been awhile since I’ve done collage style, mixed media art.

Remember to spread some cheer, sunshine & kindness where every you go and pray for our chaotic world.

Blessings!

Come With Me Lent Art Journal

Hi Friends!

I hope everyone is staying safe & warm in these winter storms & events. It’s a bit frigid here in Oklahoma at the moment.

Been a bit busy and hubby has a few days off so not a lot of time to create. However, I ordered the new Open Journey Come With Me 2 Lent Bible Journaling Kit and along with the 40 day study, I’ll be joining Liz Curtis Higgs The Women of Easter Study. I don’t usually do much for Lent but both of these appealed greatly.

So I found a steno style watercolor journal in my stash and decorated it with kit elements from the Open Journey kit.

Ingrid’s physical kits are wonderfully packed with a devotional, lots of collage images & pieces, fibers & a stamp set plus there is a digital version available too. This time I also ordered an additional coordinating stamp set & the boat charm I added to my journal. I used the “folder” that was holding all the pieces to create the front & back of my journal along with some of my hand painted paper for the sides. I used both stamp sets that matched the kit and the Tapestry of Grace stamp set from this month’s Creative Retreat Kits to add the collage feel to my covers. I love how it all came together.

I have the Creative Crate event this weekend so there will be more creating going on, then it’s back to organizing & purging some more.

Stay safe & warm.

Blessings!
