I hope your Easter weekend has been full of blessings!
Mine was a bit busy including some time without internet service. Long story. So glad it’s been restored so I can post again.
I enjoyed creating these Easter cards for our granddaughters using Simon Says Stamp Sweet Tweets Easter kit.
I love the images in this stamp set and decided to follow one of the designers samples and add the honeycomb eggs to the middle of the cards for a pop-up feature. The images were colored with Prismacolor pencils.
I’m trying out Simon Says Stamp’s Kit of the Month this year. In the past I have just ordered them as a one time purchase from time to time. I used the February Kit of the Month Sweet Days to create Valentine’s for my granddaughters.
I cased one of the design team’s designs to create these. I used Taylored Expressions Sketched Hearts Dies with rainbow glitter paper and the lollipop & sentiment from the Sweet Days kit. I colored the lollipops slightly different for each girl. I sent the cards off with a small art project for the girls to create.
Lots of fun. I plan to try & use my kits at least once shortly after receiving them so they don’t sit unused. So far I’m 50/50 since I haven’t created with January’s kit yet.
I hope your week is off to a great start. Some of the Angels came over for a get-together, we visited & did some creating. Time with friends makes a perfect start to the week.
We always need birthday cards and the weekend’s event provided a few to choose from including these 2 made with Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons set & Gina K Designs Layered Confetti stencils.
Jenn Shurkus enjoys mixing & matching products from different companies during this retreat. Mixing up your supplies expands your creative options & gets you thinking outside of the box.
These were lots of fun to color & create. The blue & green card was straight up coloring & stenciling. The multi-color balloons included some Stickles Glitter Gel through the stencil for shimmer & texture. It’s really easy to take a simple design like this & dress it up or down.
I finally made some time to be creative. I’ve spent the better part of the past 2 weeks organizing some more in the studio. I took 6 boxes of cardstock & scrapbook paper to our closest elementary school. By the time I was done unloading one teacher was already talking about using the scrapbook paper for origami with the students. Fabulous!
I have all these creative ideas brewing & begging to be created so it’s time to buckle down on designing. I made it a priority this week to clear my worktops. I did have my first steroid shot to the neck Tuesday, so a couple of days recovery were in order. Since I had another Wisdom page laid out, it was the easiest to start with.
Based on Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.
I am still working in my Scripture Journal of Proverbs. The bonus of organizing is finding items that fit your ideas. I pulled Simon Says Blossoming stamp set for this page. The tree is embossed in gold & watercolored with Prima watercolors. I finished up with a bit of ink blending, stenciling & letter play.
Hope you are enjoying the final days of summer & spending some creative time too.
I’m back with another Bible page from the God is Faithful Retreat. It came out so beautifully and features one of my favorite scripture selections from Lamentations 3:22-26
Because of the mercies of ADONAI we will not be consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning! Great is Your faithfulness. “ADONAI is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” ADONAI is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of ADONAI. TLV
Gayle taught this lesson and I just loved using floral scrapbook paper to build this page. It’s a great example of being able to use any of our card/scrapbooking supplies in Bible journaling. I used 3 different Distress Oxides to create a soft stippled background. The paper is from Pink & Main’s Fantastic Florals paper pad. The stamp sets used are Sweet ‘n Sassy Marker Alpha, Simon Says Stamp Spiritual Sentiments and an old Verve Stamps set New Mercies (retired).
It’s been a busy few days around here spending time with my granddaughters. You can check out our fairy gardens we created on my Sassy AngelS Studio Facebook page.
Back to sharing projects from retreat. I was able to finish up this Bible Journaling page I started based on 2 John verse 6 “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.” TLV
This was a video lesson on the Creative Worship FB group about a month ago that just needed a little bit of a finishing touch. I wanted to depict walking to fill in the middle of the page so I created a stencil from a cobblestone die I have and then finished hand lettering to complete my page. The hearts were hand sketched on a hymn page & cut out and the Tumbling Hearts stencil is from Simon Says Stamp.
I have several more projects to share but am also prepping for the big Crop & Create event this weekend so I’ll see how consistent I can be.
I planned on cleaning the studio today & only managed to clean 2 of my worktops but I started a mini book project & created a card.
Over the past year or so I’ve been working on sorting/organizing, I collected a basket of card kits from previous kits of the month that are long since separated from their stamps, dies, etc. So I decided that it might be fun this year to challenge myself to grab a kit & make a card with the pieces in the package.
Tonight I grabbed an easy one, (I’ll have to take a picture of the pieces in the future), with just 3 pieces. A pink card base, gray layering mat & die cut pierced rectangle. Good colors for a Love card.
I used Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Bitty Heart stencil and Simon Says Stamp You are Loved die combo to complete this card.
I attempted a tone on tone background on the card base with the old Stampin’ Up French Script background stamp but it was a little too tone on tone & came out very faint. You have to hold the card in the light just so to see it. I probably should have tried a light gray but I’m still happy with how the card turned out. It never hurts to experiment, it’s only paper.
There are cards I pour a lot of heart into when I am creating them. I created this beautiful sympathy card for my son-in-law & youngest daughter on the loss of his sister from this life way too soon. The sudden & unexpected loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult to deal with. Please hold the family in your prayers.
I used Simon Says Stamp Your Light, Stampscapes Water Pattern and an old FSJ stamp set to create this card with ink blending.
Hold your loved ones close everyday and remind them you love them. Life can be unexpectedly short.
I managed to get some cleaning done in the studio so for now my main work surfaces are neat & tidy. I also updated my projects list.
Tonight I created a soft and subtle slimline sympathy card for the series I am working on.
I used The Crafters Workshop Slimline Gentle Leaves stencil and Simon Says Stamp With Sympathy die cut. I created a soft blend with Peeled Paint & Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides. Simple, classic elegance for a somber occasion.
Have a Great Week ahead and don’t forget to share some kindness everyday.
