My Peace

Hi Angels!

I didn’t get any art done yesterday so was going to post some organization & troop progress & then my phone decided to freeze up for about an hour. So I figured I’d head to bed & see what today brought.

We had a mini Bible study and some journaling over on the Creative Worship Bible Journaling group this afternoon. Our study was on peace. Goodness knows there’s been a lot of unrest in the world lately. Thankfully as believers in the Way, our peace comes from our relationship with God.

We had 8 verses we went over and our instructor chose Philippians 4:4-8 to journal. Since I had previously journaled that page, I hopped over to John 14:27 to create my page on peace. Jesus is speaking to the disciples, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” NIV

This page also would have been perfect for Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. ESV

Life may be a challenge right now, but if I keep my eyes fixed on God and trust in His plan, then I will have peace, hope & confidence that no matter what happens God is in control and with me. Some days it’s harder than others but thankfully God doesn’t give up on us easily.

I used Simon Says Stamp Tumbling Leaves stencil, Sweet n’ Sassy True Beauty and Way Maker stamps with Distress Oxides and Micron pen for the hand lettering.

May God fill your life with peace too.

Terrific Tuesday – Spray Backgrounds

Hi Angels!

I decided to theme my days of the week for awhile based on different art ideas. Tuesdays will be Terrific Tuesday and will feature different techniques, backgrounds, stenciling, fun card folds etc.

Today I played with Distress Oxide Sprays. I purchased 5 colors a year ago & never took the time to play with them. Spray backgrounds are a fun way to play especially if you feel like your muse took a hike & you wonder when she is coming back. Often just doing something with no set plan in mind is great to get the creativity flowing again.

This is my spray station. I moved it to the classroom table for more room but it is set up on a rolling island all year round in the studio. I have been using this for years. It is simply a science project board cut in half to contain the spray, splatter or whatever creative mess I am working with. Did you know that Walmart sells mini project boards? They are perfect if you are traveling. I get many months out of a board before I replace it & that includes the extra workout it gets when I am teaching classes.

It took me roughly 30 minutes to cut 48 mat size backgrounds, cover the table with freezer paper, set up the board & spray all the backgrounds. Easy peasy & fun. Here are the results:

Now if you know me well, I tend to shy away from working in reds, yellows & oranges a lot. However I do get the bug to play in sunset colors as I call them. So when the Fossilized Amber & Worn Lipstick sprays produced a coral type orange I really liked it. Here is what I created……..

I used Distress Oxide inks with Simon Says Stamp Tumbling Hearts stencil in similar colors over the background. I finished the card with the Simon Says Stamp Heart Smile die set.

I hope this inspires you to play, paint, throw color & have fun.

Enjoy your week!

Holiday Gnome

Hi Angels!

Popping in to share the card I made for the Paper Craft Artist inspiration sketch. This is a classic easy sketch that can have multiple looks depending on occasion & supplies.

I actually took a couple of days off from the studio despite the fact that my worktop still needs several things put back in order. So since my space is a bit crowded I decided something fun & quick was in order. I actually saw the colors used on the recent Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop featuring their new Cheer & Joy release. I love fun holiday color combos so here is my card:

Yep I actually have a couple of items from the new release. Isn’t the Simon Says Stamp Gnome cute? I may have to reconsider ordering the gnome stencil too. Now if you know me well I only like certain gnomes. If they are of the “travel” variety they are as bad as clowns to some people. The cute ones with just a nose peeking out are more my style. The sentiment is from Penny Black’s new Merry Up stamp set & the patterned paper is from Penny Black’s Holiday Trimmings paper pad.

If you have some time, pick a challenge of your choice & see what you can create.

Have a Fun Weekend!

Ribbon Awareness

Hi Angels!

I know I have neglected my poor blog page again. It’s been an incredibly busy month & I keep thinking I need to post but then it’s late & I’m doing good to get a card posted on Facebook. Add in some allergy & asthma issues with the fall weather & well….. The really good news is I am enjoying creating more freestyle. Just puttering in the studio playing with this & that. I love sharing inspiration to spark your creativity too.

They started some challenges over on the Let’s Make Cards group on Facebook. I agreed to help host them along with my co-hostess Diann. These are to give you some ideas & creative inspiration. We hope you’ll play along. If you are not a member, you can request to join.

I am hosting the October 15th – 31st challenge & I chose Ribbon Awareness since October is traditionally Pink Ribbon Month. However there are many great ribbon causes so feel free to create a card for any ribbon cause you feel led to, post it to the group & then send it off to brighten someone’s day. We have either personally experienced a disease or illness or know someone who has. Let them know you care with a special card.

Here is my card:

I used Ann Corbiere-Scott’s In Memory of Laura stamp set paired with Simon Says Stamp Daisy Bouquet set for the background. I colored the ribbon with Zig Clean Color Markers

The Angels & I got to hang out with Ann at the Grace Conference in June & received her Fruit of the Spirit stamp set in class. She also creates state themed stamp sets & sells them only through local scrap/art stores in the state they were created for. Got to keep small businesses up & running or we won’t have them. You can find In Memory of Laura & her other designs on the Scraps of Love website in Arizona.

Find some time to brighten someone’s day this week.

Thanks for popping by.
