A 20th Anniversary card, Hello 2022 & a 2021 Recap

Hello Friends!

Welcome to 2022 and my newest project For Others Creations. I am still working out the details and should have more information in the next couple of days.

I have just a couple of projects left to share from 2021 including this 20th anniversary card for my oldest daughter and her husband. We were quite busy with our granddaughters while they stole away for a 5 day anniversary trip and hubby was off for 2 weeks so I enjoyed our holiday break.

I wanted to keep this card classic & elegant so I used Simon Says Stamp’s Detail Pincushion Plate for the background on brushed gold with the numbers cut from black glitter paper and the anniversary die cut word on a black pearl strip.

Now the fun part of the post for me. As most of you know I celebrated turning 60 years old in 2021 and starting moving toward not teaching classes to a year just for me. Here’s the tally of the fun of my birthday year.

I participated in 10 online events & retreats as well as 8 or so online classes, plus I attended 2 local retreats with the Angels!

I created somewhere in the neighborhood of

  • 315 cards
  • 17 Bible journaling pages & 7 faithdex cards
  • 6 mini books/albums and 1 large gift album for a friends birthday
  • 1 full size wall art piece for our master bedroom
  • plus 4 ATC’s, 1 calendar, 1 snowlady wood piece, 4 ornaments, finished spring and summer in my 12 x 12 wall art series and about 10 projects that need finished.

That’s over 350 art projects created in 2021. Stay tuned, 2022 is just getting revved up!

Thanks for stopping by my humble blog.

Wishing you many blessings, much joy and a bright & beautiful New Year ahead!

Joyful Ornament

Hi Angels!

It’s been a long 2 busy days but my one week eye check-up went great and my other check-up went well too.

I designed this card as an alternate version to the tree card I shared a couple days ago. The tree I shared as a shaker was supposed to have strips of vintage washi tape so I tried the red and white but it didn’t go with the tree. As not to waste such a pretty background, I did an ornament instead.

The ornament shape is cut from Memory Box’s Drop Ornament die. the background is Pine Forest from Catherine Pooler Designs and Joyful is CZ Designs from Simon Says Stamp.

I hope you’re listening to lots of Christmas music & enjoying the holiday festivities. Share a little holiday spirit with those around you too.

Silver Snowflakes

Hi Angels!

These first 2 days this week are fairly busy so I’m posting much later than planned.

I created the following card design for the Angels Christmas party tonight. Simple elegance.

Sizzix Jeweled Snowflakes on a brushed silver background, Simon Says Stamp Lea Snowflake die in Silver Mirror cardstock, Hero Arts Merry Christmas Message embossed in silver sparkle custom mix.

Enjoy tomorrow & spread some Christmas kindness!

Peace Dove

Hi Angels!

I hope your weekend has been wonderful!

I got a lot done today, preparing for my cataract surgery Tuesday including getting my art projects in order so they are easier to grab & work on.

Since I was so busy, I grabbed this dove image out of the infamous Bits & Pieces box and created this card.

After fussy cutting out the dove, I added a silver background embossed with Simon Says Stamp Snowflake Oval and die cut Peace out of white glitter paper using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Peace & Joy Word dies. I had a few stars in the Bits & Pieces so I added one to the background.

I hope you have a fabulous first week of December! Do you have any traditions you are looking forward to this year? Drop a comment sharing that tradition.

Straight Path

Hi Angels!

I hope you’ve had a great Saturday!

I started off my morning by listening to yesterday’s lesson on the Creative Worship group & planned to journal it today but inspiration popped up after today’s Bible study in Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in ADONAI with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.” TLV

Last year I specifically ordered the Simon Say Stamp’s Stamptember collaboration with Memory Box Life’s Path set for a Bible Journaling page similar to what I was inspired to create today.

Since I was going to do a watercolor background, I used Tomoe River FP Cream Loose Sheets paper, it is very close to the paper some Bibles are printed on and attached it to the page in my Interleaved Bible opposite Proverbs 3 when I was finished.

I used Koi Watercolors for the background, then stamped the Memory Box trees to create a path. I used the Koi’s to deepen the color on a few trees then splattered gold and copper Gansai Tambi watercolors for a bit of shimmer. It need a little bit of something so I pulled out my old FSJ Thread Sketch background & added just a bit here & there using a portion of the stamp in Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide. After deciding what I wanted to say I pulled out many Sweet ‘n Sassy sets to create my statement. I used He Is, Love Your Neighbor, God is Good, Words of Life: Actions, Go God’s Way and Skinny Caps, Bitty Minnie, Teeny and Sweet & Simple Alphas. A lot of the Creative Worship stamps sets have stand alone words to create verses & sentiments with & the alphas help fill in the rest.

A lot of work but I so enjoyed creating this page today.

Have a blessed Sunday!

New Creation

Hi Angels!

Happy Monday!

Good news, Reilly is improving slow & steady. After his vet check today, their best guess is he had a small stroke as well as the Vestibular issue. So his head may always tilt, it will take him some time to learn how to compensate for his balance, but we have been blessed with more time with our elderly furbaby.

Monday’s are always cleaning day and I do a few extra things the 1st of each month so it’s another quick project tonight.

The new Love God Greatly Bible study is In Jesus You Are….. Understanding your identity in Christ and the Creative Worship August Challenge is Our Identity in Christ. Kind of cool they go hand & hand. So I took one of last week’s backgrounds & made a quick faithdex card with today’s focal verse 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. TLV

I freehanded my handwriting & it’s a little rough this evening but that’s okay. The butterflies are from one of my birthday presents from the Angels, lots of handmade butterflies mostly from alcohol ink backgrounds. I have more than 50 in various sized to choose from.

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Natural Smile

Hi Angels!

I hope you have had a great weekend!

It’s been a stressful few days caring for our pup but he slowly seems to be on the mend. He has Vestibular Disease or what I’m calling vertigo with really inflamed nerves in the inner ear. It’s common in older dogs & can take a couple of weeks to resolve.

As much as I wanted to be in studio creating, I was just too tired the past couple of days. So I popped in tonight & grabbed some of my infamous Bits & Pieces.

I had cut an extra birdhouse awhile back & it’s been floating around on my desk along with the wood plank background that wasn’t the right color for another card. I added a sentiment & bird & instant card.

I hope to be back in the studio most of this week and hopefully revisit some of the great 5 Ways in 5 Days projects. I’ve eliminated as much extra from my week as possible so I can be near Reilly while he continues to heal. A fairly quiet week will be good for both of us.

May your week be full of sunshine & smiles.

Simon Says Stamp 5 Ways in 5 Days Day 3 Distress Oxides Play

Hi Angels!

I actually didn’t get a card done today for the 5 Ways in 5 Days but I did try 2 of the techniques in Kristina Werner’s video and hopefully I can play with the rest soon.

After being out in the 100+ heat index for appointments & errands, this play time was perfect & so much fun. I can spend hours making backgrounds sometimes. I got these done in about an hour. I worked in another look from the Card Makers Summit too.

I can’t wait to play with the other couple of techniques Kristina shared in her video. I’ve played with the Gel press before but it’s been awhile & playing with the Ranger Distress Resist should be fun too.

I hope you have a great Thursday. I’ll be getting my 3rd knee injection, the knee already feels much better with some extra fluid.

Simon Says Stamp 5 Ways in 5 Days- Day 2 Sparkle

Hi Angels!

Busy day & I’m tired. I got more sorting done in the studio, the new carpet was put in & the bedroom is almost back together and I got one of the 2 cards I started done for Simon Says Stamp 5 Ways in 5 Days.

Today Yana Smakula shared different ways to add sparkle to a card and I managed to get 3 different sparkles from my supplies on this card.

It’s very glittery so it’s hard to photograph. I didn’t have the medium Yana used but I did have Taylored Expressions new Glitter Grab that I hadn’t tried yet. I applied it through Taylored’s Winter’s Beauty Stencil then I grabbed some glitter I’ve had forever and tried for a striped effect. The outside edges are a light lavender glitter but just looks like a different white in the picture. The center is a mixture of white & silver glitter. Not perfect but very cool. I added a glitter rhinestone in the center & die cut peace out of glitter paper.

I will try & get my second card I started done soon but it may be after this week. I’d like to try & get something done for tomorrows 5 Ways and it’s an errand day so time will be short.

Have a Great Wednesday!

Simon Says Stamp 5 Ways in 5 Days – Day 1 Ink Blending

Hi Angels!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

No art sorting done today because we were clearing the master bedroom for new carpet tomorrow. But I did get a little more sorting done there.

I popped in on Simon Says Stamp new Summer Crafty Series 5 Ways in 5 Days today & decided to play along as the week allows. I didn’t have the Simon Says Stamp products that Laura Bassen used in today’s video so I challenged myself to use what I have.

I love clean & simple graphics. I used Taylored Expressions Masking Stencils Rectangle & just shifted it a bit to get the layers for the first card along with Pink Fresh Studio’s Happy Birthday. For the 2nd card, I created circle layers with my Hero Arts Infinity Dies Nesting Circle set & Yupo paper. Yupo makes great reusable stencils with your diecuts. The celebrate is from Penny Black.

So much fun but it’s off to bed, the carpet guys will be here bright & early in the morning.

Have a Terrific Tuesday!
