Today’s share is another Crop & Create class with Mama Elephant’s Feel Better stamp & die combo.
Kristina Werner shared some of her great watercoloring tips to create these fun cards. The ombre sentiment was quick & easy and is another idea to keep on hand for a quick but wonderful card. It’s also a very versatile card for any illness, injury or surgery recovery. The bunnies are so cute. The bedroom scene was fun to put together and the multi-color background makes it easy to showcase one or two images.
I finally made some time to be creative. I’ve spent the better part of the past 2 weeks organizing some more in the studio. I took 6 boxes of cardstock & scrapbook paper to our closest elementary school. By the time I was done unloading one teacher was already talking about using the scrapbook paper for origami with the students. Fabulous!
I have all these creative ideas brewing & begging to be created so it’s time to buckle down on designing. I made it a priority this week to clear my worktops. I did have my first steroid shot to the neck Tuesday, so a couple of days recovery were in order. Since I had another Wisdom page laid out, it was the easiest to start with.
Based on Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.
I am still working in my Scripture Journal of Proverbs. The bonus of organizing is finding items that fit your ideas. I pulled Simon Says Blossoming stamp set for this page. The tree is embossed in gold & watercolored with Prima watercolors. I finished up with a bit of ink blending, stenciling & letter play.
Hope you are enjoying the final days of summer & spending some creative time too.
I’m a wee bit late posting tonight. I have been reorganizing part of my kitchen & pantry. We did a major shift to accommodate a new small upright freezer.
Another retreat share, it was a really fun page to design from Diane’s lesson. Our focus was Psalm 25:10
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. ESV
I love the freeform watercolor circles with the doodles. You could use a variety of shapes to do this technique. The silhouette stamps are Sweet ‘n Sassy Nature Silhouettes 1 & 2 and the words are from a printable Diane designed just for the retreat.
I’m going to try & post a bit earlier tomorrow as we are attending Good Friday evening services with our son & daughter-in-law at their church in the evening.
Yesterday’s weather front brought more migraine issues but I got my refrigerator cleaned inside so it wasn’t an entirely wasted day. We did get to see a few hints of snowflakes but nothing exciting with this extreme cold.
Today I worked on my focal verse for the year in my tag journal. I will be adding ‘one another’ and other verses that fit my theme for the year. I may add in a few quotes too.
I did a simple watercolor background and hand lettered my verse. I’m loving the older Bo Bunny Serendipity collection that I found in my stash to add accents and used for the cover so I will sprinkle it throughout the journal. I don’t want the tag holes so the paper is a good way to camouflage the holes.
I hope you are finding some crafty or relaxing time this weekend.
I don’t know how you’re doing with your new year plans but I’m still struggling with getting my schedule on track. It will come together, it’s only the first week of the year.
I did work on a couple of projects the past 2 days. Tonight’s card was a quick clean & simple design.
The background is watercolored in gradient tones of purple. I used Gina K Designs Friendly Silhouettes and Winter Whimsy sets for my stamps. The sentiment is gold embossed.
Tomorrow’s plans are tidying up the studio & more creating.
Have a Fabulous Weekend! Don’t forget to spread some kindness out into the world.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and you are looking forward to Thanksgiving this week.
I know I haven’t posted in a bit, been a bit busy and then headed off on retreat with the Angels this past weekend, where I did work on a couple of projects and soak up the quiet of the area we were in.
Before I left, I created a card for our youngest daughter and her husband’s anniversary. I used the Cosmos stamp & die combo from Pinkfresh Studio that will release soon.
This is a card I started during the Pinkfresh Create & Connect weekend a couple weeks ago and decided it would make a beautiful anniversary card. It is watercolored on a watercolor wash background.
Looking forward to putting the studio back in order after retreat and working on some projects. It’s good to get away for a bit to have a break from the daily hub-bub and refresh.
Today is my youngest daughter’s birthday and I created her card with a new to me company, Scrappy Tails. I got in a couple of their sets about a month ago and decided to use Fairy Girl to create Shyloh’s card. I included a brief video so you can see the sparkly and shine.
I used Prismacolors on the fairy herself then I used my Iuile watercolors on the wings. I also added Twinkling H2O’s to the roses in her hair.
I’m still working on several projects at once and dedicating about an hour a day to sorting or clean up. I’ve got several ideas in consideration for creating in 2022 that will hopefully include more shared kindness too.
Hope you are looking forward to a great weekend ahead and some bits of kindness to share.
We spent some time with Little Miss Zoe for her 3rd birthday party yesterday. She had an Elsa party but I know she likes Pokemon too so I made her favorite character, Jigglypuff, into a birthday card.
With the help of a lightbox and the Pokemon coloring book I picked up for her, I transferred Jigglypuff to a piece of 140lb watercolor paper & painted her with some Twinkling H2O’s. I used a star stencil & Bo Bunny Sugar Diamond Paste for the background, then added a Happy Birthday diecut.
The happy birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles.
Enjoy your children & grandchildren every moment you can, they grow up so fast.
My creating may be a little rough around the edges the next few weeks. I’m restricted to my glasses before my cataract consult in 2 weeks and they are only for distance vision. So mid vision is a struggle & close up isn’t a problem since I’m extremely near sighted, I just flip my glasses up. I had to increase my computer screen to 130% to type. Sigh, was not the 60th year birthday gift I wanted but God is good and it will be fine eventually. My right eye can no longer be corrected because of the fuzz of the cataract.
Have a fabulous week ahead and don’t forget to spread some kindness.
I started off my morning by listening to yesterday’s lesson on the Creative Worship group & planned to journal it today but inspiration popped up after today’s Bible study in Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in ADONAI with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.” TLV
Last year I specifically ordered the Simon Say Stamp’s Stamptember collaboration with Memory Box Life’s Path set for a Bible Journaling page similar to what I was inspired to create today.
Since I was going to do a watercolor background, I used Tomoe River FP Cream Loose Sheets paper, it is very close to the paper some Bibles are printed on and attached it to the page in my Interleaved Bible opposite Proverbs 3 when I was finished.
I used Koi Watercolors for the background, then stamped the Memory Box trees to create a path. I used the Koi’s to deepen the color on a few trees then splattered gold and copper Gansai Tambi watercolors for a bit of shimmer. It need a little bit of something so I pulled out my old FSJ Thread Sketch background & added just a bit here & there using a portion of the stamp in Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide. After deciding what I wanted to say I pulled out many Sweet ‘n Sassy sets to create my statement. I used He Is, Love Your Neighbor, God is Good, Words of Life: Actions, Go God’s Way and Skinny Caps, Bitty Minnie, Teeny and Sweet & Simple Alphas. A lot of the Creative Worship stamps sets have stand alone words to create verses & sentiments with & the alphas help fill in the rest.
A lot of work but I so enjoyed creating this page today.
I had a great day! I started a 2nd Bible study & got some organizing/purging done. I have a van full for the thrift shop tomorrow.
Have faith is the 2nd “No Fuss” watercolor card from last night’s class.
I am loving the images in the Time to Coast stamp set from Gina K Designs. I added the Wood Plank Background from Taylored Expressions for the background & the sentiment is from Gina K Designs Incredibly Grateful set. My quick No Fuss watercolor makes it look like I spent more time on the card when the reality is it took about 5 minutes to swipe in some watercolor. A limited color palette is the key.
Tomorrow is errand day but hopefully I’ll have some creative time in the studio. I got my Altenew Craft Your Life Retreat goodies today for August 7th and they are tempting me to a little early crafting. What a fabulous kit! Some of their things sell out so fast I’m glad I got in on this one. I also have a few other new goodies to play with. Decisions, decisions. I’m hoping on Thursday I feel up to making several items as I have to rest after my knee injection. I’ll be coloring if nothing else.
